Adult Theatre
The Sandstone Summer Theatre Board of Directors would like to announce that after immense consideration, we have decided to pause our adult productions, following our 2024 production of Legally Blonde The Musical.
SST has come a long way since it was formed by members of the Amherst Women’s League in 1969 to give local students a chance to perform. In 1983, we expanded to include more opportunities for children, and in 2022, we began a program for even younger kids. After many discussions about what’s best for SST, we've decided to invest our time and resources in our junior and kids theatre programs. We believe this will help us better fulfill our mission of nurturing a love for the arts in children from an early age.
The Board of Directors thank supporters, actors, designers, crew, musicians, board members, and all that have helped our adult productions through the years. We are eternally grateful to you and we hope you are “so much better” from your time with Sandstone Summer Theatre.
It has been a truly rewarding experience to witness the many individuals that this program has impacted. We hope to see you all support Legally Blonde as a big celebration of these past 55 years.
What is SST?
At Sandstone, we love to see people follow their passion for theatre. Our participants are students, teachers, and more by day but performers by night. Each summer, students who completed 9th grade of high school to adults of any age audition for our large-scale musical or choose to help behind the scenes painting, building, costuming, or aiming lights. Everyone is guaranteed a part at SST.
Though we are based in Amherst, participants come from all across Northeast Ohio. Sandstone Summer Theatre has no fees associated with participation in our shows! Rehearsals run weeknights from 6:00 to 9:00 PM starting at the end of May at Marion. L Steele High School in Amherst, OH. More information can be found on the audition page when it is published!
