This Privacy Policy is provided by Sandman Studios ("we", "our", "us"), the developer and operator of ChoreQuest and related mobile applications (collectively, the "Applications").
This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information in connection with your use of the Applications. It applies to parents, guardians, and family members who use ChoreQuest.
We are committed to complying with applicable privacy laws, including:
- Australia: Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
- United Kingdom: UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
- United States: COPPA, CCPA/CPRA (for California residents), and other applicable state laws
If there is any inconsistency between this Policy and mandatory law, mandatory law prevails.

We do not intentionally collect precise geolocation data, biometric identifiers, payment card data, or government-issued identifiers through ChoreQuest.
We process personal data under one or more lawful bases:
- Contract: to provide account and core app functionality
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, service improvement, and subscription or access management
- Legal obligation: compliance with applicable law
- Consent: optional processing where consent is required
You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect processing already performed lawfully before withdrawal.
We collect personal information reasonably necessary for our functions and activities, consistent with the APPs.
We process personal information for disclosed business purposes and do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
ChoreQuest is designed for family use and supervised setup by a parent or legal guardian. It is not intended for children to create independent accounts.
- Parent or guardian creates and manages the account
- Child profile details are entered by the parent or guardian
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without required parental consent
- Parents or guardians may request access, correction, or deletion of child-related data at any time
For children under 13, we rely on verifiable parental consent and parent-controlled account management.
We apply age-appropriate protections for data involving children and young users.
We handle children's information in accordance with Australian privacy requirements and regulator guidance.
If you believe child data was submitted without proper authority, contact us at support.chorequest@gmail.com.
We use information only for legitimate app-related purposes, including:
- Delivering core features such as family setup, chores, approvals, and rewards
- Account and authentication management
- Data synchronization across authorized devices
- Security, abuse prevention, and fraud prevention
- Reliability and performance improvements
- Subscription entitlement checks, purchase restoration, and premium feature access where applicable
- Legal and regulatory compliance
- Customer support
We do not use your data for targeted advertising and we do not sell personal information.
We do not sell personal information. ChoreQuest does not display third-party ads.
We may disclose information in limited circumstances.
We use providers needed to operate the Applications, such as:
- Firebase and Google Cloud services for authentication and database hosting
- Google Play services and related billing infrastructure where subscriptions or in-app billing features are offered
- Infrastructure and support tools required to run and support the app
Providers are required to process personal information only under our instructions and with appropriate safeguards, except where they act under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
If our business is merged, acquired, or restructured, information may transfer to a successor entity with substantially equivalent privacy protections.
Any other sharing occurs only with your explicit consent.
Data is stored using infrastructure operated by third-party cloud providers, including Firebase and Google Cloud.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS)
- Access controls and least-privilege practices
- Authentication and session security controls
- Ongoing review of security practices
No method of storage or transmission is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because our providers may process data globally, personal information may be transferred outside your country.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, which may include contractual protections and other transfer mechanisms permitted by applicable law.
We retain personal information only as long as needed for:
- Providing app functionality
- Security and fraud prevention
- Subscription entitlement management and billing-related support where applicable
- Legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations
- Resolving disputes and enforcing agreements
When deletion is requested or an account is deleted, data is removed or anonymized according to the deletion flow selected by the user and subject to legal retention requirements.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or request portability of personal information.
You may request access or correction and lodge complaints with the OAIC.
You may exercise UK GDPR rights and lodge complaints with the ICO.
You may request to know, delete, or correct personal information and exercise non-discrimination rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You can manage certain family and account data in Family Settings and Account areas in the app.
To exercise your rights, contact support.chorequest@gmail.com. We will respond within required legal timeframes.
ChoreQuest is a mobile application and does not use browser cookies in the traditional web sense. We may use mobile SDK or service telemetry for reliability, security, subscription support, and service operation, not targeted advertising.
The Applications may link to or integrate with third-party platforms and services, including app stores, Google Play billing, and subscription management services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
ChoreQuest may offer optional paid subscriptions through Google Play.
If you choose to purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled by Google Play in accordance with Google Play’s terms, policies, and privacy practices. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
To provide subscription features, we may receive limited subscription-related information from Google Play or related platform services, such as:
- Whether a subscription purchase was made
- Subscription status, for example active, cancelled, expired, pending, or in a trial period
- Product, offer, or plan identifiers
- Transaction identifiers or purchase tokens needed to validate entitlement
- Renewal or cancellation status where available
We use this information only to:
- Activate and manage premium access in ChoreQuest
- Restore purchases
- Verify subscription entitlement
- Prevent abuse, fraud, or billing-related errors
- Support customer service and dispute handling where necessary
Subscriptions are optional and are not required to use Child Mode or other free features unless explicitly stated in the app.
Subscription terms, pricing, billing frequency, free trial details, and automatic renewal information are shown in the app and or through Google Play at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions purchased through Google Play can be managed or cancelled through Google Play.
Cancelling a subscription prevents future renewals, but access may continue until the end of the current billing period or free trial period, subject to Google Play’s billing rules.
Uninstalling the app, clearing local data, deleting a ChoreQuest account, or deleting app data does not automatically cancel a subscription purchased through Google Play. To avoid future charges, you must cancel the subscription through Google Play.
Refund eligibility and billing handling for Google Play purchases are generally governed by Google Play’s applicable terms, billing rules, and refund policies, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
If you experience a billing problem, accidental purchase issue, entitlement problem, or other subscription-related issue, you may contact us at support.chorequest@gmail.com. Where appropriate, we may direct you to Google Play support or Google Play subscription management tools.
