Welcome to Mrs. Sanderson's Music Website! As you navigate through, you will find important classroom information, as well as exciting links to enrich musical development.
I do have a YouTube Channel that I post videos from class, have some playlists of songs to sing or dance to, and other helpful videos with school not being in session. I know many students have already found it, but the link below will take you straight to the right one!
I grew up in Nebraska (GO HUSKERS!), and currently live in Vermillion, SD with my husband and two sons Dexter & Luther.
This is my twelfth year of teaching, and I have taught music for every grade K-12. While the variety kept things interesting, I am very excited to be in Beresford focusing on K-5th grade music classes with a bit of MS mixed in for fun. :)
Everyone can sing. Children, teenagers, adults, boys, girls...everyone! For some, it comes more naturally, and for some, it takes effort. However, this is no different that learning to read, do math, or work a computer! The more you do it, the better you will get. Parents, don't give up on your kids...and kids, don't give up on your parents! This article briefly describes a study done to support this idea.
Music is a physical activity. From keeping a beat with your hands to dancing, music is best done with the whole body. I try and keep students in my classroom moving, whether it's by learning folk dances, current pop dances they might encounter at a dance or wedding, or creative movement to teach or enhance a musical concept we are studying.
