I successfully completed a week-long visit to Raichur University, India (26th–31st March 2024) under the Wales-India collaboration, conducting a hands-on workshop on AI, ethics, and computer vision. The workshop benefited students and faculty, particularly those from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds across different colleges of Raichur University. This initiative helped bridge the digital divide by providing practical AI knowledge in a disadvantaged region. Widely recognized, it was featured in 18 Indian newspapers. The visit strengthened academic collaboration between Wales and India, with plans for follow-up sessions.

I had the amazing opportunity to present my work to a group of 15 participants from Africa and the Middle East. The group included Vice Chancellors, Pro-Vice Chancellors, Professors, and industry professionals. We had a very productive discussion, with some people joined online and others in person. It was a privilege to be part of such a diverse and insightful conversation, and we’re excited to take this collaboration to the next level. We are now planning to build stronger partnerships between the UK, Africa, and the Middle East. Soon, Cardiff Met will take on the role of academic advisor to universities in these regions. One of the higher authorities from a Nigerian university will also be visiting us for three months. This collaboration will be very impactful for Cardiff Met’s four schools and for universities in Africa and the Middle East.
