About Me: Sanchita Chakraborty
Welcome to my research page! I'm Sanchita Chakraborty, currently pursuing a PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics at the University of Notre Dame where I work with Dr. Alan Lindsay. My research is at the intersection of fluid dynamics, biological physics, mathematical modeling, and computational methods, where I explore complex phenomena through advanced mathematical techniques and cutting-edge simulations.
Research Interests
My work is driven by a deep fascination with how mathematics can be applied to solve real-world problems. From studying microswimmers in confined spaces to developing optimization methodologies for renewable energy systems, I am passionate about using computational tools to understand and predict dynamic systems. My research has allowed me to collaborate with leading experts and contribute to innovative solutions across various domains, including biology, physics, and engineering.
Academic Background
I hold an MA in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where I specialized in mathematical biology and computational math. My undergraduate studies were completed at Purdue University, where I focused on applied mathematics and mathematical physics. My academic journey has equipped me with a diverse skill set, including expertise in MATLAB, Python, and C++, as well as experience with high-performance computing and numerical analysis.
Beyond Research
Outside the lab, I am an avid traveler, having visited 20 different countries, and I am fluent in five languages. I enjoy staying active at the gym and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. These experiences have enriched my perspective, allowing me to approach my research with creativity and an open mind. In my free time, I can often be found on a hike, trying a new restaurant, visiting a new city, at the gym or a new bookstore with my husband Tyler Kennelly (see here), a Postdoctoral Scientist at Sandia National Laboratories.
Get in Touch
I am always eager to connect with fellow researchers, students, and professionals. Whether you're interested in discussing potential collaborations, learning more about my work, or simply sharing ideas, feel free to reach out.
