SCSCA is proud to offer a vibrant summer exchange program with our sister city, Omura in Nagasaki, Japan. Each year, four San Carlos high school students embark on an unforgettable journey, experiencing Japan in a truly unique and immersive way. In return, participants welcome a visiting Japanese student into their homes, sharing the charm and culture of the Bay Area. It’s a meaningful exchange of friendship, discovery, and global connection.
To celebrate our sister city connection, a beautiful new mural now brightens San Carlos: a collaborative creation by local artist Yucali and a calligrapher from Omura. Community members were invited to help bring the artwork to life, adding their own brushstrokes to this symbol of friendship. The mural was officially unveiled in a special ceremony in May 2025, marking a vibrant milestone in our ongoing partnership.
