2025 Old Home Day Report
Sanbornton Old Home Day Committee Report 2025
Mapping Our Memories, 255 Years of Sanbornton Stories
Saturday, July 12, 2025, was a day of celebration, community, and connection for Sanbornton. Our annual Old Home Day brought together familiar faces and new friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime. The day embodied our theme of Mapping Our Memories, 255 Years of Sanbornton Stories.
The parade was a highlight of the day, showcasing the spirit of our community, led by Grand Marshal Carol Levesque. They were followed by lively participants from Rusty's Towing, Abbott Lumber, the Town Fire Department, Town Police Department, Transfer Station, Sheriff's Department Highway Department, Jeff & Karen Davis, John Dube, and many more drivers of antique cars. Walkers in the parade included the Sanbornton Historical Society, the Sanbornton Recreation Department, Sanbornton Public Library, and many youth groups and sports teams. Their participation illustrated the collaborative nature of our town, with local businesses and municipal departments coming together to create a memorable celebration.
The day featured an abundance of activities and attractions for all ages. Beautiful farm demonstrations and engaging pony rides delighted children and families, creating the perfect backdrop for photos and fun. Local vendors came from far and wide, offering handmade goods, crafts, and services that reflected the creativity and spirit of our region. A stroll down Meetinghouse Hill provided opportunities for tours of the Historical Lane Tavern, Police & Fire Stations. While some watched and listen to Elise Ford’s chainsaw carvings, others tuned into the New Horizon Band, and some rang the Revere bell in the church to catch a glimpse of the live video feed of ringing.
Culinary delights were everywhere: Ralph Carter and the Doric-Centre Lodge #20 F&AM served up classic favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, and fried dough. SmokeStak BBQ, had drawn in crowds for its mouthwatering offerings including the BBQ Sundae. Milltuck provided delicious homemade ice cream including the wonderful Blueberry Crumble, a sweet treat to top off the sunny day. The Fire Station also hosted a spirited Cribbage Tournament, which was won by Franklin resident and neighbor, Doug Sargent.
Other beloved traditions continued, including chess matches, storytime, and book sales in the library; Wildlife Encounters, New Horizons Band, and our town committees and non-profits sharing space on the field; inflatable activities from Vertical Horizon hosted by Sanbornton Recreation in front of the town offices, and an evening movie night in the church undercroft space with a variety of field games and activities that brought people together in laughter and friendly competition before the show.
Our event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors. We are deeply grateful to our Silver Sponsors, including Birch Rise Farm, Den Brae Golf Course, General Properties LLC, and Rusty's Towing. Special recognition goes to our Gold Sponsor, Elise Ford of 3B Creative Carvings and 3B Tree Removal & Firewood. An additional 27 local businesses and community members contributed at the t-shirt level, demonstrating the remarkable community spirit that defines Sanbornton.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated committee and volunteers worked tirelessly to make this day special. Jacqulyn Riendeau, Sue Long, and Briana Herman coordinated the event with Sheila Kufert serving as secretary, Sam Swartz managing sponsorships and logistics, Betsy Bryant handling treasury and nitty gritty details, and Brad Crosby organizing the Cribbage Tournament. Civil Air Patrol Hawk Squadron and many other volunteers contributed their time and energy, each playing a crucial role in bringing Old Home Day to life.
The Old Home Day Committee remains committed to creating a vibrant, inclusive celebration that brings our community together. We continue to welcome new ideas and volunteers who want to help shape future events and keep the tradition of Old Home Day alive. If you're interested in getting involved, we invite you to reach out and become part of this wonderful event.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Old Home Day 2025 a success – our sponsors, volunteers, performers, and most importantly, our community. Your participation and support make Sanbornton a truly special place.
Respectfully submitted,
