This program is geared towards training middle school students (grades 6-8) to compete in Model United Nations conferences. Students will learn methods to improve their public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership skills. This program runs for approximately 6 months and students will have the opportunity to compete at multiple local and nationally recognized conferences: Santa Clara Valley MUN, Berkeley MUN, and Davis MUN. Training directors are from Dougherty Valley High School, and are on their school's Varsity Rosters. In addition, past Dougherty Model UN Alumni have gone on to attend prestigious institutes such as Stanford University, University of Chicago, and Harvard University.
This program is based on an application process and we will only be accepting a few applicants per year.
When: Every Wednesday (4:30-6PM) from Jan. 9, 2019 to May 22, 2019
Where: Alcosta Senior and Community Center
Eligibility: Students that demonstrate Model UN potential and are in grades 6-8.
Pricing: Program fee is $500, which covers tuition and conference fees.
