Samiran Das is a Graduate Research Assistant (PhD Program) at Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He started the PhD journey in the Fall of 2023, majoring in Information Systems.
As an Assistant Director He joined Bangladesh Bank in 2010. So far here he served in several vital departments such as the Financial Stability Department, Banking Inspection Department, SME and Special Programs Department, and Financial Inclusion Cell. After joining at the central bank he earned a Master in Bank Management (MBM) degree from the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM). His current portfolio includes preparing the central bank's flagship publications on financial stability namely, the Bangladesh systemic risk dashboard, financial stability report, and financial stability assessment report; evaluating the stability indicators alignment with SDG, and mapping the threats of cyber attacks in the banking sector and its consequence in financial stability.
Before joining Bangladesh Bank, he worked in the IT department at Eastern Bank Limited, a 3rd-generation leading private commercial bank. He also has work experience with a French-based software firm named SlashWeb as a Web Developer immediately after completing his undergraduate in Computer Science at Shah Jalal University of Science and Engineering.
Overall, a blending of his ten years-long experience in central banking with an academic mix of Business and Information Technology has instigated him to enhance his inquisitive horizon, where his research focuses on leveraging information technologies and artificial intelligence within FinTech to analyze how it can more effectively mitigate information asymmetry and reduce social inequities in the business and social spheres.
