Interview
Complete a short interview with the judging panel before your solo performance where you will discuss your background, goals, and interests in the team as well as answer any questions the judges may have for you. We want to get to know you, not just see you twirl!
Solo Routine Performance
Perform a routine (2.5 minutes MAX) to music of your choice showcasing bodywork, multiple batons, and advanced performance quality. This routine should be prepared in advance of auditions. While there are no required tricks, we do expect a collegiate level of twirling to be displayed in this routine. See the FAQ section below for examples of skills we value as a team.
Do you have a basics list?
While we do not have a portion of tryouts dedicated to performing a basics list, we highly value both baton twirling and dance technique appropriate for the University level. Below are some ideas of baton twirling, dance, and additional skills that you should work towards before tryouts. Again, these are not required skills, but they should give you a good idea of skills that you should be working to obtain; i.e., we would like to see these types of tricks performed on the field.
Twirling
1-3 turns; vertical, horizontal, and backhand
Toss Cartwheel (and/or Walkover)

When will I find out if I make the Majorette team?
The Majorette team will be announced via email within one week of auditions. The email will indicate any additional steps you may need to take to accept the invitation to membership.
What is the attire and hair/makeup guidelines for auditions?
Attire for the entire three-part audition process should be an appropriately-fitted one- or two-piece twirling costume, nude tights, and nude jazz shoes. You are welcome to bring a coverup or warmup to wear overtop when you are not performing or interviewing.
Participants should be in performance-ready makeup and hair for the entirety of the audition process. For makeup, strive for a 'field show' makeup look that includes blush and a red lip at minimum. For a performance-ready hairstyle, hair should be styled with majority of hair down. You can achieve this look by wearing hair fully down and teased out of face or creating a half-up/half-down hairstyle. Note: Please do not wear hair in a ponytail or a bun.
