Swimming Teaching (A, S)

G11
In 11th Grade, I got the opportunity to become an after school, assistant swimming teacher, where, in conjunction with another friend of mine who was in the same position, I directly taught, every friday, a class of middle schoolers how to swim using the knowledge and experience I had gained from being on the school’s swim team when I was their age. Swiming is a basic skill that everybody needs to know, especialy children not just becuase of sports, but for their own safety too. The main challenge I faced was their varying ages and skill levels, so even though I had to teach all of them at the same time, I had to give the same explanation multiple times at different levels to accommodate the ranging abilities. I spent my time observing them individually and assessing where they needed help and then doing my best to address it. It was abit sceary at times though becuase their safety was in my hands, and some swimers struggled alot at times, or the kids would be play fighting eachother and I would have to intervine to make sure that everyone could breath.
A - Swiming with them
S - Helping / teaching others
