CAP Elements

About the CAP Elements

CAP, the Candidate Assessment of Performance in Massachusetts, consists of six essential elements. A teacher candidate can be rated as unsatisfactory, needs improvement, proficient, or exemplary in these elements. In order to become a teacher, a candidate needs to receive proficient in the quality of all the elements. The six elements are:

• 1.B.2: Adjustments to Practice
• 2.A.3: Meeting Diverse Needs
• 2.B.1: Safe Learning Environment
• 2.D.2: High Expectations
• 4.A.1: Reflective Practice
