NSS Activities for the Academic year 2018-2019
A Seminar on ‘Anti- Nuclearism’ in connection with Anti- Atomic day was conducted on 06-08-2018. Dr. C. Amose, Associate professor, Dept. of History, Muslim arts College, Thiruvithancode was the chief guest.
Campus cleaning was conducted at regular intervals.
NSS volunteers actively participated in the Independence Day celebrations held on 15-08-2018 and presented various cultural programs.
The NSS volunteers extended a helping hand in the Kerala Flood Relief activities. They, along with the NCC volunteers collected money and various materials in and around Marthandam and handed over them to the District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram on 21-08-2018.
As a part of the Swach Bharat Mission, the volunteers cleaned the Marthandam Bus stand on 06-09-2018.
As a part of the Swach Bharat Mission, the volunteers cleaned the Kuzhithurai Railway station on 19-09-2018.
An Intra college Quiz competition was conducted in connection with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 24-09-2018.
The NSS units of our college have adopted the Govt. Higher secondary school, Nalloor for the developmental activities. A meeting was held on 23-10-2018 in the school campus. Dr. Samuel Nayagam, Dept. of English (Programme officer. Unit No. 118) gave a lecture on the topic ‘Plastic Awareness’. Our volunteers cleaned the school campus and planted saplings.
An orientation programme for the first year NSS volunteers was conducted on 14-12-2018. Dr. V. Darling Selvi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Commerce, Rani Anna College for women, Tirunalveli was the chief guest. She delivered an address on the ‘Importance of NSS and its Activities’.
The members of NSS served as volunteers in the 23rd ‘Christmas Ayikiya Manadu‘ conducted by the Salvation Society of Blind at Marthandam on 28-12-2018.
The NSS special camp was conducted at Pathukani from 17-02-2019 to 23-02-2019.

Inaugural Meeting :The inaugural meeting of NSS team was held on 9th July 2019 at Seminar Hall II at 1.45 PM. Our program officer Dr.Natasha Sebastian gave the inaugural address and explained the brief details about the NSS programs and activities. Dr.Alex Godwin, MPT,MIAP, Physiotherapist from Grace Institutions, Kaliakkavilai delivered the special address on “Physical fitness and Health Issues” and motivated the students for maintaining good health. Dr.W.R.Sam Emmanuel explained the schedule of NSS programs in this academic year. Many NSS volunteers were attended in this program.
Campus Cleaning :The NSS team is very aware about the campus environment and encouraging the students to develop the green and clean campus. In order to motivate the volunteers, various activities are organized inside the campus. The campus cleaning drive was conducted regularly, which motivates the students to make ‘Clean India’. Swachh Bharat scheme :The cleaning programme under Swachh Bharat scheme was conducted on 30th September 2019 at Kuzhithurai railway station at 11 AM. Mr.Wilson, the official from the Kuzhithurai railway station makes necessary arrangements to conduct the railway station cleaning program. The platforms and the surroundings of the Kuzhithurai railway station were cleaned. The program officers and 30 NSS volunteers were actively participated in this drive. The railway authorities appreciated the team and encouraged the volunteers.
Children’s Home Cleaning: The cleaning programme was conducted around the Children’s home at Panianni, Marthandam on 15th October 2019 at 10.30 AM. The program officers and 16 students were participated. The main objective of this programme is to provide healthy environment and clean surrounding for the children. This programme initiates the government officials to construct the new building and provide good environment for the children those who are coming for their basic education.
Disaster Management: The special program on “Disaster Management” was organized by The Collector, Kanyakumari District, at VLC Ground, Kuzhithurai on 16th October 2019 at 10 AM in VLC ground, Kuzhithurai. Several real-time exercises and safety methods were shown in this programme. This programme motivates the NSS volunteers.
Drug Awareness Programme :The drugs awareness programme was conducted on 20-01-2020 for the school students. Nearly 100 students from LMS Boys Higher Secondary School, Marthandam were participated. Fr.N.Martin, Bishop Secretary, Kuzhithurai Diocese gave special address about the drugs and its social problems. The programme was well organized by the NSS unit and Headmistress of the LMS boys school. The programme officers of our NSS team had made necessary arrangements to conduct the event successfully. All the students and staff of LMS Boys School were benefited.
COVID-19 Protection Mask Distribution: The NSS team of our college is very eager to protect the people from the COVID-19 virus. Due to the lockdown situation, we may not be able to do much work for the COVID-19 patients. But we have given direction to protect the people from the virus as well as our programme officers made necessary arrangements to supply COVID-19 protection mask in villages. Our NSS volunteers actively involved to stich and supply mask in several villages. The mask distribution programmes were conducted at Unnamalakadai area on 21-04-2020 as well as at Karungal area on 05-05-2020.
Special Camp :The NSS special camp was conducted from 01-03-2020 to 07-03-2020 at Home for Mentally Retarded, Allancode. The camp was inaugurated by our principal, Dr.K.Paulraj. All the programme officers and second year NSS volunteers were actively participated the special camp. The local arrangements were done by the school correspondent, Prof.C.Edward Jaya Singh and the headmistress, Mrs.A.Sheeja Joy. The cleaning programmes, tree plantation programmes, social meet, social awareness programmes, health awareness programmes, and competitions were conducted in this period. Through the camp, the NSS volunteers were studied the systematic life style. All the programmes conducted on these seven days were very useful for the NSS volunteers. NSS Activities for the Academic year 2020-2021
COVID-19 Protection Mask Distribution : The NSS team of our college is very eager to protect the people from the COVID-19 virus. We had given direction to protect the people from the virus as well as our programme officers made necessary arrangements to supply COVID-19 protection mask in villages. Our NSS volunteers actively involved to stich and supply mask in several villages. The mask distribution programmes were conducted at Unnamalakadai area on 21-04-2020 as well as at Karungal area on 05-05-2020. Ms.K.Anushya of II B.A. English and her team initiated the mask distribution program along with the NSS program officers.
Installation of Solar Panel : The NSS team is very concern about the poor needy people. We have approached liberal contributors from the college staff as well as well-wishers for the solar panel installation of a small house without electricity. The amount of Rs.32,000 was spent for the solar panel installation with two lights and one fan. Two women, Ms.Rethnam and Ms.Manokaral from Vembattuvilai were benefited. The solar panel was inaugurated on 10-04-2021, Saturday at 2 PM by the principal Dr.K.Paul Raj.
Voter’s Awareness Human Chain To achieve the 100% voting, the NSS team along with NCC, YRC and Student’s Union jointly organized the voter’s awareness human chain for creating awareness about the voting, which was held on 20-03-2021, Saturday at 12 Noon. Mr.M.Ramachandran, DSP, Thukalay, Mr.T.Mathavan, Election Officer, Vilavancode Taluk and Mr.S.Senthilvel Kumar, Police Officer, Marthandam were attended this program.
Webinar : Now-a-days the traditional foods are diminishing day by day. It is necessary to know the importance of State Tree as well as its medicinal values. We have organized a webinar on “Panai marathodu Payanipoom Valvai Mambaduthuvoom” to get more knowledge about the Palmyra palm, which was held on 23-04-2021, Friday at 11 AM through google meet. The resource person Mrs. Prathie Jeen from Fathima Public School, Kottamom addressed the gathering. 100 NSS volunteers were benefited through this online program.

In order to motivate the volunteers, various activities are organized inside the campus. The campus cleaning drive was conducted regularly, which motivates the students to make ‘Clean India’.
NSS Day Quiz : To check the general knowledge of the NSS volunteers, we have conducted the Online Intercollegiate Quiz competition on 24-09-2021. More than 150 volunteers participated. Ms.S.Krishnaveni from Sri.Paramakalyani College, Alwarkurichi got first place and Ms.S.Selciya from Sri.Paramakalyani College, Alwarkurichi got second place and B.Kumari from Sri.Saradha College for Women, Ariyakulam got third place. We thank all the prize winners and participants.
Tree Planting : The time spent among trees is never time wasted. We had a tree planting programme on 24-09-2021. The tree planting programme was inaugurated by our Principal Dr.K.Paul Raj by planting a tree. The NSS team is very concern about environment protection. The NSS volunteers also planted variety of trees inside the campus.
World Forest Day : The world forest day was celebrated in presence of the vice-principal Dr.R.Sheela Christy on 22-03-2022. Dr.A.Dickson Benjamin, Former HoD of Physics has presented the importance of the forest with his experience. More than 250 NSS volunteers were attend the programme. Ashlin Kiruba from Mathematics department gave the introduction about the forest and forest day. NSS volunteers shows the importance of forest through various events.
World Water Day : Water is the driving force of all nature. We have celebrated world water day on 23-03-2022 in our campus. For the remembrance of world water day, we have conducted Drawing competition for the college students. Around 35 students were participated this event. Abinaya B S from III B.A. English (Aided) got first place, Ashlin Kiruba from II B.Sc. Mathematics(Aided) got second place and Jebisha J from I B.Sc. Mathematics(SF) got third place.
Special Camp : The special camping programme was conducted from 17-04-2022 to 23-04-2022 at CSI Mission Hospital Campus, Kulasekaram. In these days, the cleaning programmes were conducted in Arasamoodu, Convent Junction, Market, Nagacode Junction, Police Station and Govt. Hospital Kulasekaram. Various cultural programmes were conducted in the evening at different places. Plastic awareness, drug awareness programmes also conducted in the junctions jointly with the Kulasekaram Muncipality. Our volunteers visited the public people along with the Executive officer and Kulasekaram municipality team to give awareness about plastic. The tree plantation also done in CSI Mission Hospital. All the NSS volunteers are enjoyed the camp in all aspects
NSS Activities for the Academic year 2022-2023
Orientation Programmes : To equip the NSS volunteers every year the NSS team organizes the orientation programme for the NSS volunteers. This year also we have conducted two orientation programs for the first year and second year volunteers. The orientation on the topic “Not Me But You” for the second year volunteers was held on 08-08-2022. Dr.A.Yardly, Assistant Controller of Examinations from Scott Christian College, Nagercoil was the resource person for this program.
Orientation program for the first year volunteers was held on 22-02-2023. Dr.S.Binduja, Associate Professor & HoD of Economics from Sree Devi Kumari Women’s college, Kuzhithurai was the resource person.
Legal Awareness Programme : We have conducted a legal awareness program for the teen girls on 20-08-2022. Adv.J.Smitha Rani from Madurai High Court has given guidance and awareness about different apps used for protecting the girls. All the NSS volunteers actively participated and clear their doubts about the usage of different apps.
National NSS Meet : The National NSS meet was held at St.Xavier’s college, Palayamkottai on 19-10-2022. Twenty NSS volunteers were participated various competitions. Ms.J.Jebisha from II B.Com. and her team got I prize in short film competition, Ms.C.Akshaya from II BA English got III prize in Poetry writing competition.

Awareness Programmes : We are very much eager about the moral values of the volunteers and the students. Our volunteers organizes a school program with various activities to improve the moral values of the school students. The awareness program on “Moral Values” was conducted at Government Middle School, Perai on 02-09-2022. The volunteers express the moral values through short stories, rhymes and skit.
The awareness programme on “Higher Education Eligibility Examinations” was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Munchirai on 21-02-2023. Our volunteers gave the ideas to write the NEET, JEE, CUET and other eligibility examinations. Around 150 HSC students were benefited from this programme.
Disaster Management Training : The district level disaster management training was held at Rojavanam college of Higher Education from 19-09-2022 to 30-09-2022. Three NSS volunteers, G.S.Godbin Raj, M.J.Ajay Mon and S.Abishek were participated the training programme.
NSS Day Celebration : In view of NSS day 24-09-2022, the celebrations were held on 29-09-2022. Dr.K.Pazhani Kumar, Programme Officer from S.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil was the resource person. Various competitions were conducted and the prizes were distributed for the winners.
World Food Day Celebration : The world food day was celebrated on 17-10-2022. More than 100 food packets received from the NSS volunteers. The food packets were distributed to the poor needy people in the streets and bus stand. Around ten NSS volunteers actively participated to collect and distribute the food packets.
Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp Selection : The pre-republic day parade camp selection was held on 4-11-2022 at MS University, Thirunelveli in the presence of State NSS officer. Two NSS volunteers S.Abishek & N.Aashika from our college were participated in the selection camp. N.Aashika from Unit No.82 was selected to participate in the State Republic Day Parade Camp 2023.
State Republic Day Parade Camp : The state Republic Day Parade Camp organized by Tamil Nadu State NSS cell & directorate of collegiate education was held from 16-01-2023 to 26-01-2023 at Marina, Chennai. Ms.N.Aashika from Unit No.82 participated the same.
Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations : The 75th Independence Day celebrations was organized along with NCC cadets held on 15-08-2022. 98 NSS volunteers participated and give performance in the cultural activities. Mr.Kumari Aadhavan was the resource person.
The 74th Republic Day celebrations was organized along with NCC cadets held on 26-01-2023. 92 NSS volunteers participated and give performance in the cultural activities. Argi.Dr.Y.Rajakumar, Scientist & Former Deputy Director of Horticulture.
Special Camp : The NSS Special Camp was conducted at Kuttaicode (Devicode Panchayat) from 19-03-2023 to 25-03-2023. 120 NSS volunteers actively participated the camp. Various activities were organized in different places in the Devicode Panchayat. The cleaning programme was conducted regularly in the Kurumadathu pond. The special cultural programs were conducted every day evening in different places. Plastic awareness rally and drug awareness rally were conducted.
National Youth Festival : The NSS volunteers participated the National Youth Festival organized by Govt. of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports held at Hubli, Dharward, Karnataka from 12-01-2023 to 16-01-2023. Two volunteers S.Abishek and S.M.Geethu from our college participated the event. They have trained with different cultural activities and got chance to explore their performance in the national level.
NSS Adventure Camp : The NSS Adventure Camp was organized by Govt. of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports, Manali from 15-11-2022 to 24-11-2022. Three NSS volunteers S.M.Geethu, F.S.Aglin Britto and U.Debina were participated the camp. The volunteers trained with different activities like mountain climbing.
District Youth Parliament : The district youth parliament festival was conducted by the MS university on 28-01-2023 through online mode. Four NSS volunteers L.Bernisha, P.G.Aarthi, U.Debina and M.R.Abitha were participated the event.
University Orientation Programme for POs : The orientation programme for the Programme Officers was conducted by the MS university on 31-01-2023. Four POs, Dr.W.R.Sam Emmanuel, Dr.S.Jeslin Sunitha Bai, Dr.P.C.Jose Paul and Dr.J.L.Stalin were attended the programme. The regional director of NSS and the state NSS officer were talked about the responsibilities of POs. The NSS co-ordinator Dr.A.Veliappan did all arrangements and gave ideas to improve the NSS activities in the colleges.
State NSS Orientation Programme for POs : The POs orientation programme for Logistics was conducted by Tamil Nadu State NSS cell & directorate of collegiate education held at Chennai on 14-02-2023 and 15-02-2023.
National NSS Training Programme for POs : The POs training program on “The study and Analysis of the Survey of Unemployed Youth” was held on 15-03-2023 organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India, New Delhi held at Dr.Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. Dr.W.R.Sam Emmanuel, the NSS convener has selected as the nodal officer of Kanyakumari district to attend the training program and in-charge to take the survey of unemployed youth.
Exposure Visit : The Govt. School Students Exposure visit to Higher Education Institution was held on 24-02-2023. Ten students each from four schools participated this event. This programme was jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu State NSS, School Education Department and Ministry of Higher Education. The NSS volunteers explained the procedure to write NEET, JEE and CUET examinations. The campus visit was conducted at the end of this programme.
World Earth Day Celebration : The World Earth Day celebration was held on 26-04-2023. Dr.E.Grace Marin, Programme Officer from Scott Christian College, Nagercoil was the resource person for this event. The active NSS volunteers of this academic year were honoured in this function. The NSS volunteers gave their feedback at the end of this session.
Naan Mudhalvan Kaloori Kanavu The Naan Mudhalvan Kaloori Kanavu programme was jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu State NSS, School Education department and Ministry of Higher Education on 27-04-2023 and 29-04-2023. The training for the NSS volunteers was conducted at NVKS, Attoor. Around 30 NSS volunteers involved to give the guidance about higher studies to the HSC pass out students.
Swachh Bharat Cleaning Camp : The Swachh Bharat Cleaning Camp was conducted at Melpalai on 21-04-2023 and 22-04-2023. Twenty NSS volunteers selected for this cleaning camp. Various activities like pond cleaning, manjal Bag distribution, Workshop to study the challenges to make the Cleaning India, Plastic awareness, etc. were conducted around the Devicode Panchyat. This programme was fully supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs. The Tamil Nadu State NSS has sanctioned the amount of Rs.25,000/- to conduct the Swachh Bharat Cleaning Camp.
NSS Activities for the Academic year 2023-2024
Eye Camp : The eye camp was jointly organized by Digit Eyes and the NSS units of our college which was held on 21-07-2023 at the college campus. 167 persons benefited through this camp.
Drug Awareness Notice Distribution : The Drug awareness notice distribution was held on 23-06-2023. Fifteen volunteers were participated to distribute the notices in the public places. Nearly one thousand notices were distributed.
Drug Awareness Rally : The drug awareness rally was held on 26-06-2023. Around one hundred volunteers were participated. The Police officials and the college NSS jointly organized this event. The volunteers participated the rally with placards.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Rally : The Suicide Prevention Awareness Rally was jointly organized with NSS, Rotary Club of Marthandam and Police department held on 25-10-2023. The rally starts from the college, visited the Marthandam bus stand and come back to the college. The awareness meeting was arranged at the Seminar Hall-II. One hundred and five volunteers participated.
Independence Day celebration : The Independence Day celebrations was organized along with NCC cadets held on 15-08-2023 at 8am. 106 NSS volunteers were participated the flag hoisting ceremony.
South Zone Pre-RD Parade Camp selection : The south zone pre-RD parade camp selection was conducted on 13-10-2023 at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Thirunelveli. A.R.Aruna (II BA Tamil), C.B.Dathi Mol (II BA Tamil), and S.J.Sukitha (II BSc Zoology) were attended the selection.
South Zone Pre-RD Parade Camp : The south zone pre-RD parade camp was held from 30-10-2023 to 09-11-2023 at Cavery College, Thiruchirapplli. A.R.Aruna (II BA Tamil) has participated the camp.
National Integration Camp : The national integration camp held from 29-11-2023 to 05-12-2023 at Kalyani University, Naida, West Bengal. S.J.Sukitha from II B.Sc. Zoology has participated the camp. A.D.Venkadesh from II B.Sc. Botany has participated the national integration camp held at Annai Fathima College of Arts & Science, Madurai from 11-12-2023 to 17-12-2023. Berin D Singh from II B.Sc. Physics has participated the national integration camp held at Karnatak University, Dharwad from 05-01-2024 to 11-01-2024.
National Youth Festival : The national youth festival was held at Maharastra from 12-01-2024 to 16-01-2024. A.R.Aruna from II BA Tamil has actively participated in this camp.
World Food Day Celebration : The world food day was celebrated on 16-10-2023. The NSS volunteers eagerly contributed 128 food packets. The food packets were distributed to the poor needy people in the streets and bus stand. More than 100 NSS volunteers actively participated in this event.
Swachh Bharat Cleaning Programme : The Swachh Bharat Cleaning Programme (Swachhata Hi Seva) was jointly organized with Rotary club of Marthandam, Southern Railway and College NSS. The cleaning programme was conducted at Kuzhithurai Railway Station on 01-10-2023. Twenty five NSS volunteers were participated.
National Survey : The national survey of Youth not in Formal Education or Regular Employment was conducted by our NSS volunteers from 22-09-2023 to 21-10-2023. The survey forms distributed from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been used for taking the survey. Three hundred survey forms were used for collecting survey and the report submitted to the university.
Republic Day Celebration : The republic day celebration was held on 26-01-2024 at 8am. 105 NSS volunteers were participated.
Online Programmes : The online program was organized to motivate the young NSS volunteers to show the achievements of ISRO scientists. The motivational video “xspUk; jkpo;ehL kpspUk; jkpoh;fs;” was played on 09-10-2023 at the college premises. Around 250 volunteers attended this event. The NSS volunteers got the chance to attend the national investor’s meet through online on 08-01-2024. Around 100 volunteers attend the program.
Training : One day training program on “Railway ticket spot booking app” was conducted by the railway authorities for the NSS volunteers on 07-12-2023. The NSS volunteers understand the usage of the new app and trained the passengers to use the same app. 15 volunteers and more than 100 passengers were benefited.
Conference : Around 100 NSS volunteers attended the special conference on “The Kanyakumari Formation Day” at the college organized by the NIRAS(National Institute of Religion and Society) on 01-11-2023.
NSS POs Meet : The POs meet was conducted by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Thirunelveli on 04-01-2024 at the University campus. Dr.W.R.Sam Emmanuel (Unit No.82), Dr.J.Freeda Mabel Rani (Unit No.83), Dr.S.Jeslin Sunitha Bai (Unit No.135), Dr.P.C.Jose Paul (Unit No.139), Dr.C.Godwin Sam (Unit No.188) and Dr.J.L.Stalin (Unit No.189) were attended the meet.
University Level Awards : The MS University honour the Programme Officers and NSS volunteers every year for their remarkable achievements. Our college has received three awards in this academic year 2022-2023. Dr.W.R.Sam Emmanuel [Unit No.82] has received the best NSS Programme Officer award, the best NSS unit award received by his unit [Unit-No.82] and the best NSS volunteer award received by S.Abishek [II B.Sc. Computer Science, Unit No.82]. This is the remarkable achievement done by our NSS team. This is the first time in our college history we have received three NSS awards at a time from the university.
Drug Awareness Programmes : The drug awareness programmes are jointly organized by the NSS and the JCI Marthandam regularly for the every department of the college. I thank Adv.A.Antush Jerome and his team for their active participation to conduct this events.
Exposure Visit : The exposure visit was organized on 22-01-2024. Nearly 147 Government school students from Pathukani, Arumani, Kadayal and Palukal schools were participated. Around 30 NSS volunteers involved in this program.
NSS Special Camps : We had two NSS Special Camps in this academic year. The first special camp was organized by the unit numbers 82, 135 and 189 at Unnamalaikadai Panchayat from 28-01-2024 to 03-02-2024. Fifty Seven NSS volunteers were participated. The second special camp was organized by the unit numbers 83, 139 and 188 at Mulagumoodu from 04-02-2024 to 10-02-2024. Sixty Seven NSS volunteers were participated. Both the camps were well organized and conducted smoothly.
PAN Card and Passport Services : The special drive to get the PAN Card and Passport was jointly arranged by the NSS team and Janasevana Kendram in our college campus. The college students and staff benefited through this program. Nearly 70 persons got PAN Card and 20 persons got passport through this special drive.
District Walkathon : Our NSS volunteers participated the district level Walkathon to give the awareness to Save the Girl Child which was held on 25-01-2024.
School Visit : Our NSS volunteers helped the Government school students to fill the application forms to apply for the higher education and eligibility examinations. The NSS volunteers visited the Government schools at Pathukani, Arumani, Kadayal, Palukal, Vilavancode and Vettuvenni to help the school students on 08-05-2023 and 09-05-2023.
Nanmuthalvan Orientation Program : One day orientation program under Nanmuthalvan scheme is organized by the school education department for the NSS POs on 16-02-2024.
Orientation Program for NSS Volunteers : The orientation program for the first year NSS volunteers is held on 19-03-2024. The Programme Officer Dr.P.C.Jose Paul gave the training for MY Bharath registration.
Non Communicable Disease Awareness Programme : The Non Communicable Disease awareness programme is conducted on 20-03-2024. Dr.Sujin Herbert, Assistant Professor & HoD in Siddha and Naturopathy department from Govt. Hospital, Thuckalay was the resource person. All the second year NSS volunteers has attended the program. The active NSS volunteers honoured in this program.
YUVA SAMVAD – INDIA @ 2047 programme : The Manonmaniam Sundaranar University has selected two NSS units for conducting YUVA SAMVAD – INDIA @ 2047 which is funded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. We receive Rs.20000/- from the university to conduct this programme. The Unit No.82 got a special opportunity to conduct the same on 17.04.2024 at our college campus. The one day YUVA SAMVAD – INDIA @ 2047 programme was conducted at Nesamony Memorial Christian College, Marthandam from 9.30am to 4.00pm. The thirty seven students from seven college were participated the competitions. Those who got the first three places in the competitions were honoured.
NSS Activities for the Academic year 2024-2025
Drug Awareness Jyothi Run: The drug awareness rally was held on 26-06-2024. Our twenty five volunteers were participated. It was jointly organized by Department of Social Welfare & Physical Education, Department of Child Welfare & Special Services and Lions Club of Arumanai.
Campus Cleaning : The NSS team is very aware to develop the green and clean campus. In order to maintain the green environment the volunteers are motivated to do various activities inside the campus. The campus cleaning drive was conducted regularly, which motivates the students to make ‘Clean India’. The NSS volunteers and the program officers were actively participated in the campus cleaning programs. The campus cleaning programs were conducted on 13-07-2024, 25-07-2024, 01-08-2024 and 08-08-2024, 19-09-2024, 20-09-2024, 23-09-2024, 25-09-2024 and 26-09-2024.
Orientation and Inauguration Programme: The official inauguration of NSS activities and the orientation for the NSS volunteers was conducted on 15-07-2024. Around 300 volunteers were participated. Dr.S.N.Leena Nelson from the WCC, Nagercoil was the chief-guest.
Tree Plantation: The tree plantation programme was organized on 15-07-2024 and 26-07-2024. Dr.S.N.Leena Nelson from the WCC, Nagercoil was planted a tree on 15-07-2024. Mr.Mathiyazhagan, ADSP, our correspondent Dr.A.J.S. Pravin, the principal(i/c) Dr.R.Sheela Christy and college governing board members were planted the trees inside the college campus on 26-07-2024.
Drug Awareness Seminar: The drug awareness seminar was conducted on 26-07-2024 in Seminar Hall-II. More than 250 volunteers were attended. Mr.Mathiyazhagam, ADSP and Mrs.Everlin Subha, the district mission co-ordinator (DHEW) were the chief-guests of this programme. Mr.Ajmal Jenif, SI-Cyber Crime and Mrs.Saraswathi, Anti Human Trafficking Unit were felicitate the gathering.
Drug Awareness Rally: The drug awareness rally was conducted on 26-07-2024 from the college to Marthandam Bus stand at 3.30PM. More than 250 volunteers were participated. Mr.Mathiyazhagam, ADSP inaugurated the rally. The rally was jointly organized with the Police department and Social welfare department.
Kerala Relief Fund Collection: The Kerala Relief Fund collection was done on 8-8-2024. 25 volunteers were involved to collect the fund from the college staff and students. The collected amount of Rs.83550/- (Eighty three thousand Five hundred and fifty only) is handover to the Chief Minister of Kerala for the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund on 12-08-2024.
Independence Day celebration: The Independence Day celebrations was organized along with NCC cadets held on 15-08-2024 at 8am. 92 NSS volunteers were participated the flag hoisting ceremony.
Swachhata Hi Seva Programme: The Swachhata Hi Seva programme was conducted to clean the different parts of the college campus from 17-09-2024 to 02-10-2024. The active participation of the NSS volunteers provides the clean campus with good environment. We have received Rs.20000 from the university to conduct this programme.
Experiential Learning Programme: Our NSS volunteers registered for the experiential learning programme through MyBharat portal. As a part of this programme, eleven NSS volunteers has been selected to do the experiential learning through Government Hospital Kuzhithurai from 23-9-2024 to 3-10-2024. C.M.Gajaatharan, R.E.Rithin Rose, J.Akash Johnson, E.Ajin Kumar, S.Afsal, S.Abinesh, S.Ajay, V.Ebanezar, S.J.Ajay, R.Bergin Robert and Aaron were attended. They have got the training from the Government Hospital Kuzhithurai on these dates.
Swatchhata Pledge: Swatchhata Pledge taking programme was held on 24-9-2024 in Seminar Hall-II. Around 300 NSS volunteers participated.
Organic Food Exhibition: The organic food exhibition was held on 24-9-2024 at Main block. Different varieties of organic foods were displayed for exhibition. Ten NSS volunteers were helped to display and distribute the organic foods for the needy. Three organic food producing organizations were displayed the foods.
Seminar on “Natural Food for Healthy Life”: The seminar on “Natural Food for Healthy Life” was conducted on 24-9-2024. The Natural life medicine expert, Dr.Kalaivanan was the chief-guest of the day. More than 250 volunteers attended the seminar.
Seminar on “Food is Medicine”: The seminar on “Food is Medicine” was conducted on 26-9-2024. The Yoga specialist Dr.Vignesh Veerabhadran and “MY Food Products” manager Mr.J.Sha were the chief-guests of the day. This programme is jointly organized with YMCA Munchirai. More than 250 volunteers were participated.
Free Medical Camp: The free medical camp was conducted on 27-09-2024. This programme is jointly organized with ATSVS Siddha Medical College Munchirai. The medical college depute three doctors, five nurses and twelve students for the medical camp. Twenty five volunteers actively participated the arrangements and the notice distribution. 195 persons got benefited through this camp. Free medicines also provided for the patients.
Plastic Cleaning: The plastic cleaning programme was held on 1-10-2024 at the college campus. The NSS volunteers fully involved to collect the plastics from the college campus. The collected plastics were handover to the municipality.
Beach Cleaning: The beach cleaning programme was conducted on 2-10-2024 at Thengapattanam. Ten volunteers were actively involved to collect the plastics around the Thengapattanam beach.
Awareness Programme for Girls: The awareness programme entitled “Women Transforming India” was conducted on 3-10-2024. Mrs.Vijra Amirtha and Mr.V.Siva Kumar from Sankhyam were the chief-guest of the day. Around 250 girl students were participated. This programme is jointly organized with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA).
Trekking: The trekking programme was conducted on 5-10-2024. Fifty two volunteers were actively participated the programme. We have visited Maruthuval Malai, Devasahayam Mount and Kanyakumari.
AIDS Awareness Programme: The AIDS Awareness Programme was conducted on 09-10-2024 at Marthandam Bus stand. Ten volunteers were participated and give the presentation of AIDS awareness through skit and awareness song. This programme is jointly organized with AIDS control organization and Government Hospital Kuzhithurai. The Municipal chairman of Kuzhithurai, Mr. P. Asaithambi was the chief-guest of the programme.
HIV-AIDS & STI-RTI Awareness: The HIV-AIDS & STI-RTI Awareness programme was held on 10-10-2024. Around 200 volunteers were participated. Mr.I.David Xavier, DSRC-Counsellor, from Government Hospital Kuzhithurai was the chief-guest for the day.
Workshop on “Basic Life Support”: The workshop on “Basic Life Support” was held on 14-10-2024. Around 150 volunteers were participated. The workshop was conducted by the Counsellor and Psychologist Dr.Hari Vignesh. This programme was jointly organized with Red Ribbon Club and Youth Red Cross.
Drug Awareness Programme: The drug awareness programme was conducted on 15-10-2024. The Sub-Inspector of Police, Mrs.Rekha was the chief-guest of the programme. She has given the guidance to protect the NSS volunteers from the drugs. Around 100 volunteers attended the programme.
World Food Day Celebration: The world food day was celebrated on 16-10-2024. The NSS volunteers eagerly contributed the food packets. The food packets were distributed to the poor needy people in the streets and bus stand. More than 50 NSS volunteers actively participated in this event.
South Zone Pre-RD Parade Camp Selection: The south zone pre-RD parade camp selection was conducted on 23-10-2024 at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Thirunelveli. The volunteers of Unit No.83, Y.Ajeesh and R.Sabitha (II BCom) were attended the selection.
South Zone Pre-RD Parade Camp: The Y.Ajeesh from Unit no.83 has participated the south zone pre-RD parade camp which was conducted from 05-11-2024 to 14-11-2024 at Davangere University, Karnataka State.
District Level Youth Festival Competition: The district level youth festival competition was held on 13-12-2024 at Rohini College of Engineering & Technology, Anjugramam. Our NSS team A.R. Aruna (Unit No.83), R.Anlet Sheeba (Unit No.135), M.Dhana Lekshmi (Unit No.135) and V.L.Vinisha (Unit No.189) got first place in Folk dance with Rs.7000 cash award and shield.
University Level Award: Our NSS volunteer A.R.Aruna got the university level best NSS volunteer award for the academic year 2023-2024.
NSS POs meet: The university level NSS POs meeting will be held on 20-12-2024 in the University campus. Two POs, Dr.W.R.Sam Emmanuel [Unit No.82] and Dr.S.Jeslin Sunitha Bai [Unit No.135] were attended the meeting.
Inter District Youth Exchange Programme: The district youth exchange programme was conducted from 08-01-2025 to 12-01-2025 at MSR Residency, Perambalur which is jointly organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. S.Afsal, E.Ajin Kumar, R.E.Rithin Rose and Ranjith from Unit No.82, Y.Ajeesh, R.Sabitha and C.D. Bijolin Kisho from Unit No.83 were attended the programme.
NSS Special Camp at Pallikal: The NSS Special Camp for the units 83, 139 and 188 was conducted at Pallikal (Vavaral Panchayat) from 19-01-2025 to 25-01-2025. 65 NSS volunteers actively participated the camp. Various activities were organized in different places in the Vavarai Panchayat.
Workshop on “Youth against digital media addiction”
The state level workshop on “Youth against digital media addiction” was held from 21-01-2025 to 23-01-2025 sponsored by the Youth Welfare & Sports development department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu at Anna University, Chennai. V. Ebanezar from Unit no.135 has participated the workshop.
National Adventure Camp: The E.Ajin Kumar (Unit No.82) has participate the national adventure camp jointly organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and allied sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh and ministry of Youth and Sports from 15-11-2024 to 24-11-2024.
Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations: The 76th Republic Day celebrations was jointly organized along with NCC cadets held on 26-01-2025. Our NSS volunteers participated the programme.
Workshop on “Youth for Social Justice”: The state level workshop on “Youth for Social Justice” was held from 31-01-2025 to 02-02-2025 sponsored by the Youth Welfare & Sports development department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu at Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore. S.Ajay from Unit no.135 has participated the workshop.
National Integration Camp: The NSS volunteer S.L.Shyma from Unit No.189 has participated the National Integration Camp held at West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh from 03-02-2025 to 09-02-2025.
NSS Special Camp at Munchirai: The NSS Special Camp for the units 82, 135 and 189 was conducted at Munchirai (Munchirai Panchayat) from 02-02-2025 to 08-02-2025. 90 NSS volunteers actively participated the camp. Various activities were organized in different places in the Munchirai Panchayat area.
Workshop on “Youth for Reviving Traditional Sports & Games”: The state level workshop on “Youth for Reviving Traditional Sports & Games” was held from 07-02-2025 to 09-02-2025 sponsored by the Youth Welfare & Sports development department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu at Bharathidason University, Tiruchirappalli. R.Sabitha from Unit no.83 has participated the workshop. She got prizes in Kabaddi, Tug of War, Nondi Race, Kangaru Rele, Kho-Kho and sack race.
Workshop on “Disaster Management & First Aid”: The state level workshop on “Disaster Management & First Aid” was held from 14-02-2025 to 16-02-2025 sponsored by the Youth Welfare & Sports development department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu at Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi. J.Jini from Unit no.83 has participated the workshop.
National Youth Festival: The NSS volunteer G.Saranya from Unit No.83 has participated the National Youth Festival held at VIT Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 13-03-2025 to 17-03-2025.
State Adventure Camp: The NSS Programme Officer of Unit No.83, Dr.J.Freeda Mabel Rani acted as contingent leader for the State Adventure Camp held at Yercaud, Tamil Nadu conducted by Periyar University, Salem from 01-03-2025 to 05-03-2025. The NSS volunteer C.D.Bijolin Kisho from Unit No.83 has participated the same.
World Water Day Celebration: The World Water Day celebration was conducted on 20-03-2025. Dr.D.Saleem Jose, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany and Biotechnology from Emmanuel College, Vazhichal was the resource person of the programme. He has given the guidance for protecting the water and waterbodies. Around 150 volunteers attended the programme.
Drug Awareness Programme: The awareness programme on “The Consequences of Drug Abuse” was conducted on 21-03-2025. The Statistical Inspector Mr.Balakrishnan and the Special sub-inspector Mr.Jebaraj were given awareness about the drugs. They have given the guidance to protect the NSS volunteers from the drugs. Around 140 volunteers attended the programme.
Special Cleaning Drive: The special cleaning drive was conducted for three days in the college campus. The sixteen NSS volunteers are actively participated to clean different places of our college. This programme was done on 06-03-2025, 07-03-2025 and 10-03-2025.
NSS Award Distribution & Valedictory Function: The NSS awards are distributed to the best NSS volunteers of our college on 03-04-2025. Dr.J.P.Sheeja, NSS Programme Officer, Sree Devi Kumari Women’s College, Kuzhithurai was the resource person of the programme. She has given motivation to the NSS volunteers for their achievements throughout their NSS journey. Around 250 volunteers attended the programme.
