The Task: Create a dropping mechanism for the your drone. Mechanism must hold a water bottle securely. It must contain a servo. This servo must be controlled by the transmitter or through autonomous programming. The mechanism must be able to release the bottle upon request.
The idea for this water bottle dropping mechanism to go for a one bottle drop over multiple. This is to ensure battery life, speed, and reliability. The mechanism is a two-piece designed to act as a cup holder, when ready for dropping, the servo will move the bottom and the bottle will fall.
This plate will connect to the drone via zip ties and will allow for the dropping mechanism to be attached to it.
The first design printed was the piece designed to be moved by the servo, letting the water bottle fall out onto the ground. This print was a little tight on the bottle and too brittle for my liking.
The second design was made thicker to be sturdier, wider to allow for a nicer fit for the water bottle, and taller to ensure no mishaps. The connection point for the servo was also installed. The chamfer was added to help ensure the water bottle falls out.
