Future of Saltburn Community Response (SCR)
At a recent Directors meeting we discussed the future of SCR.
It was agreed that we have achieved a lot as a group. Most recently getting Keeping It Clean At Saltburn (Kicas) up and running again, the Well Being Fair, securing funding and premises for Library of Things Saltburn (LoTS) and workshops around sustainability and growing.
Our main active project recently has been LoTS and so we plan to shift focus to LoTS and associated activities at the end of the current financial year (end of October 2024). We are also looking into changing the name of the CIC to reflect this. As directors we feel that we no longer have the time to put into SCR to take it in new directions. We have tried repeatedly to get new directors but with no success. Additionally, it has been reported that Redcar and Cleveland Council may be taking a more supporting/coordinating role with volunteer groups meaning that our work in that area will be covered by that initiative.
Thanks so much to everyone who has been involved in SCR events and activities over the last few years. Looking forward to continuing to work with you all moving forward.
Upcoming Events and Projects
As many of you know we set up SCR during Covid when there was a need to support each other in the community. We have continued to develop and support projects and activities that promote community and connection.
There are many social groups and activities in Saltburn for people to join in with. There are also free events through the week that people can go to. Groups and activities are covered in the comprehensive Saltburn Directory. Copies of this are available in the Community Cupboards and in the library. It is also pinned to the Saltburn Community Response Facebook page.
We would like to know from you (the community of Saltburn) if you think there is anything missing and how we can connect as many people as possible.
Here are 3 short questions for you to answer.
1. What activities/groups/events would you like to see more of?
2. When would you like these to be?
3. Any comments / questions / ideas?
Please complete by following the online link below or tear out and return to the post box in the library or pick up a copy in the library

Please take advantage of the 'Warm Spaces' and venues offering hot drinks and 'Pay-it-Forward' schemes.
Our community is offering a number of warm safe places to sit during these cold months, with some free refreshments. Our local businesses are also offering the 'Pay-it-Forward' schemes. Customers and staff are buying additional hot drinks, snacks, meals so others who need these can enjoy a little something provided by someone else.
