This event was originally due to be held in Nov 2020 but was rescheduled due to covid-19 restrictions. Over the weekend hundreds of people came to see the work that people in Saltburn had made over the lockdown period. A poignant reminder of all people had endured during this period.
This year was bigger and better than ever, with some houses going all out to put on the scariest show in town. We had 3 prize winners this year and they really did deserve it. Another frightful evening out on the town of Saltburn!
Kids and adults alike had fun making fabric pumpkins together to celebrate the autumnal season.
Hosted in partnership with one of our lovely local artists, Victoria Parker-Cripps.
Residents again got together to celebrate, recycle their jumble and get to know their neighbours in our September Jumble Trail. Many bargains to be had!
It's getting to be that time of year again- so please let us know if you have any excess produce you would like to share this year- we've got a ton of apples and pears that will be ready in the next couple of weeks. Email info@saltburnresponse.com or drop off your excess produce at one of the community cupboards and let us know on our Facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/saltburnresponse
Would you like to learn how to make planters for your alleyway or back garden project? Or learn how to use colour and designs to decorate garden pots?
Throughout July and August 2021 we will be hosting a series of workshops around creating and decorating pots and planters for your alleyway greening or gardening project. These workshops will be hosted by local residents who are keen to share their skills and will provide you with the tools and skills you need to make and do everything for your alleyway or garden.
There are a maximum of 6-10 people per session and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

All across Saltburn residents have been sprucing up their up their outdoor spaces, to create a more pleasant communal area for people to come together. Outdoor spaces have become more important than ever this year – as have the bonds formed with neighbours and in our local area. We hope we can keep the sense of connection and renewed purpose we have had together throughout the pandemic into this next stage – all are welcome to get involved.
If you would like to sign up to become a lead contact for your alleyway please email saltburnresponse@gmail.com
As part of our 'growing together' project, Saltburn residents have been donating and swapping seeds with experienced and beginner growers. We have held two seed swaps to date, along with a sunflower seed giveaway, sponsored by Morrisons Redcar. Looking forward to seeing what grows this season (if only the weather could sort itself out a bit!).
Over the last 9 months, local volunteers Ron Downie and Kieth Chambers have made 7 community cupboards which are dotted around Saltburn. The cupboards have been used to exchange seeds, books, games and even excess produce throughout the pandemic. During our Christmas and Halloween trails families used them to collect presents and sweets, when making their way around the town.
This year the cupboards will be supporting the 'growing together' project, with seeds, seedlings and growing equipment being exchanged. They have become a real focal point in many streets and areas, where people can check in and leave a little something for someone in need.
Residents decorate their houses for halloween and SCR create a map for a trail around the spooky sights! Making up for not being able to trick or treat this year!
A socially distanced jumble sale style trail around Saltburn, inspired by the Festival of Thrift, sadly not running this year
A zoom event to pinpoint which issues matter most to the community of Saltburn and share ideas on how to tackle them
