These grants aim to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and skill development in the field of salt studies. Whether you are looking to conduct specific measurements at a partner institution, learn a new technique, expand your network at a conference or host a researcher at your facility, we encourage you to apply.
Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs)
Up to 4000 euros- Next deadline- Fall 2025
Interested in gaining skills related to social, biological, or climatic impacts of Salt Ages OR hosting early career scientists to work on these topics in your institution?

Looking for somewhere to undertake an STSM project – do you need access to a mass spectrometer, training in seismic interpretation, or to organize a field campaign? Post what you are looking for on our matchmaking board
Do you have an opportunity you think would be great for an STSM applicant – equipment that they could use; samples they could analyse; training they could undertake? Post your opportunity on our matchmaking board so that potential STSM applicants can contact you.

Applications comprise :
a completed STSM grant application e-COST template;
a letter confirming that the STSM host agrees to receiving the applicant to undertake the research;
a break-down of the budget requested;
a 2-page CV of the STSM applicant.
Conference Participation Grants
🚫 Events organised by the COST action SaltAges are NOT eligible for the Conference Participation Grants. 🚫
If you wish to attend a COST action meeting, you need to apply through the meeting page in order to attend and be reimbursed
Up to 700 euros for in person attendance/ 500 euros for online conferences
Next deadline Fall 2025
This funding supports participation in high-level conferences fully organized by third parties. It includes:
Young Researcher and Innovator Grants: Targeted at early-career researchers and innovators (<40 years old) to present their work (poster or oral presentation) within the SaltAges framework at international conferences, thereby enhancing their visibility and impact within the scientific community.
Inclusiveness Target Country (ITC) Conference Grants : aim to support researchers from ITC countries (see a list of eligible countries here) to present their work (poster or oral presentation) within the SaltAges framework at international conferences, thereby enhancing their visibility and impact within the scientific community.
Applications comprise :
a completed conference grant application e-COST template;
a copy of the abstract of the accepted presentation (oral for Dissemination Conference Grant; oral or poster presentation for ITC and YRI Conference Grants);
Acceptance/Invitation letter from the conference organisers;
a break-down of the budget requested;
a 2-page CV of the applicant.
