Background
A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their employees—the price floor below which employees may not sell their labor. Most countries had introduced minimum wage legislation by the end of the 20th century. (Wikipedia)
In Indonesia, there are 4 types of minimum wages:
Provincial Minimum Wage or Upah Minimum Provinsi/UMP;
Regency Minimum Wage or Upah Minimum Kabupaten/UMK;
Regional Minimum Wage or Upah Minimum Regional/UMR; and
Sector Wage or Upah Sektor. (Indonesiabaik.id)
Each province in Indonesia has a different Minimum Wage from other provinces because the amount of money needed to live a decent life in each province is different. This is caused by several factors such as the level of economic density, speed of economic turnover, and technology adoption. Apart from that, economic growth and inflation also influence the determination of the UMR (akseleran.co.id).
