Salem State Community Chorus

About us

Salem State Community Chorus (SSCC) is a mixed chorus open to all singers over age 18. We sing a variety of choral music that showcases a mixture of styles, time periods, and composers.  We are an open and welcoming organization committed to providing a safe and supportive environment as well as quality music experiences for all performers and audience members.   We value the diverse and colorful community of Salem and its neighboring towns, and we welcome people of all ages, identities, and abilities.  Current singers in the chorus include residents of Salem, Marblehead, Lynn, Swampscott, Beverly, Peabody, Danvers, Hamilton, Wenham, Georgetown, Haverhill, and Ipswich, ages 20 – 82!
There is no audition and no fee to participate in SSCC, although we do ask members to purchase their own music if they are able to do so (approximately $25 each semester ).  Rehearsals are held at Salem State University on Tuesday evenings throughout the academic school year in one our beautiful music spaces on campus. There is free parking available. We perform 2-3 concerts per year in various locations in the Salem area. Our concerts are free and open to the public with donations accepted at the door.  Please email sshane AT salemstate DOT edu to register for the chorus or for more information.
