Below is the full list of the suggestions submitted via the district survey. I made only a few minor spelling corrections to help with readability but otherwise the comments are presented exactly as submitted.
Adding safety lights or enhancement to the crosswalk upon entering the city park on the Desoto side of the park. Blind spot and people don’t always slow down.
ADUs and multi generation households are crowding street parking making streets harder to navigate, walk and enjoy. We should give every house only 2 parking spots per R1 parcel.
All these new developments should be assessed a fee to pay for the water and sewer lines upgrades. Current residents should not be burdened with the expense.
Be more responsive. We've had trees fall on houses multiple times along Cunningham Way. We call with concerns about the safety of our homes and lives and get little or no response. Unless of course a tree hits a house and then the city has to pay for repairs.
Beat cops on foot and bicycle
Bring in more businesses for a bigger budget
Continued focus on local core services; not national or international issues.
Enforce the laws in San Bruno. Stay out of international problems
Enforcement of parking rules (72hr max, no parking near crosswalks or blocking sidewalks, etc.) to incentivize people to park in their driveways/garages and/or own fewer vehicles would be great. An opt-out parking permit program instead of the opt-in system we currently have (petition by neighbors) would also be helpful. I am tired of subsidizing the storage of my neighbors' personal property in public spaces and the sheer number of cars obscures visibility and makes it difficult to bike/walk safely in the neighborhood. Biking is my main mode of transportation and the pavement quality in Huntington Park is challenging in places.
Hire more employees who live in San Bruno.
hire more people if possible to do the upkeep and repair work on the streets, the parks, the sidewalks, the dog park
I have a child that attends John Muir. Although there are funds and a project set aside for John Muir and Measure X passed, the children are our future. A close 2nd concern are our roads. I live on Maple Ave and there are several large sink holes in front of our house, along our street, etc.
"I think all sidewalks that roots have impacted sidewalk from walking caused by city trees should be fixed right away cost to city not homeowner.
I have tripped many times on street areas example 700 block of cypress in fact due to horrible sidewalk conditions in multiple areas neighbors don’t have money as spare and need fixing .
Increase public school ratings
Invest in downtown improvement with the Foundation monies; Use the Foundation money to help small businesses
Less $ on silly stuff and focus on city structures
Like to see additional traffic calming / daylighting measures implemented. These along with improving bicycling infrastructure will help encourage lessening automobile dependence. Ultimate goal to be reducing household cars which burden neighboring residents who are forced into the street because cars block sidewalk.
Listen to residents and business owners. Answer phones. More in-house services not out source to Fresno. Enforce rules (parking.. ) not make new ones (meters).
Lower our water rates
Lowering cost of water and garbage services
Make Euclid Ave one-way only (entry from El Camino). It is way too narrow of a street to be hosting bi-directional traffic.
More construction and development of vacant property to generate more tax dollars, tear down Mills Park Square and development that area into housing and decent stores, no one shops there and the restaurants are poor quality.
More housing construction and tear down Mills Park Square get more tax dollars and decent stores like a Whole Foods and restaurants.
More information about why the city does what it does
My block could benefit from either a new pedestrian crossing or speed bumps. Traffic in particular speeding has always been an issue on the 400 block of Huntington Ave.
New Library
Pay the employees higher wages so that positions are more attractive. San Bruno is already a fairly boring City. City employees can do their job at any other nearby city. Why San Bruno? If you don’t pay high, the good people go to other cities.
Our downtown is not great. I wish it was better. Every nearby city has better downtowns. Now we have to pay for parking. And on Sundays?! And until 8pm?! Nah… I’ll just go somewhere else, it’ll be nicer anyways.
Perhaps, zone parking permits for homeowners
Potholes on Crystal Springs Road
Recognize residents cannot afford endless increases in costs. Economize. Be realistic.
Regarding the parking situation- neighborhood (avenues)parking should have been permitted. The meters were doomed from the start and I honestly don’t see a smooth path going forward. Broken machines, system is down, possible hacking rumor. I feel for the businesses downtown-I only frequent one.
Increase police and work on ways to put a stop to random m80 explosions by setting larger fine as a consequence. $5000 .
This survey is a great idea.
Some of the two way streets in lower San Bruno should be one way streets
Stop farming out services like stormwater & garbage collection fees.
Stop marginalizing women and being openly condescending to them. Take steps to start helping the homeless. Take a stance on Gaza. Don’t create ordinances without votes and open public forums. Don’t be so rude to people who speak up at meetings. I disapprove of ALL the council members and we don’t need 4 districts. We are not that large of a city. This just makes it impossible to have any change. Every member has been there too long because of loopholes you created. You’re as bad as the DC politicians. Makes me sick.
Stop raising taxes and start using the tax money for what it is intended for. We already pay a sewer tax and now we have the sewer fees added to the property tax. This will cause landlords of apartment buildings to raise rents to cover the additional tax. Many families are struggling to stay housed, some have multiple families in small spaces. We have people living on the sidewalks, in the parks, and on freeway on-ramps and off ramps. It takes forever to get them relocated. The garbage at these sites can be quite hazardous and unsightly.
Stop raising taxes on home owners. I'm a senior citizen with no children and there's always a tax increase for the schools in SB and there is no end to it. And the city keeps trying to get us to pay more to improve the water infrastructure. I'm afraid to retire because I can't keep paying the higher costs of living in SB.
Stop unnecessary fireworks that occurs every now and then.
The city park street is a bit narrow & dangerous around the curves. Would be nice if there’s a speed limit sign of maybe 15mph?
The senior center might need some upgrades.
Stop wasting money. Spend more efficiently.
The city puts onus of fixing sidewalks on residents, but I find this so unfair when walkways at the city park are so hazardous or some of those new curb cuts at intersections are so stupidly designed to be tripping hazards.
The parking program in downtown has been a horrible addition.
There should be adequate parking for the church on the corner of cypress and Santa Lucia. There is no parking lot. They have services a couple days a week and they park in the front of the houses and it’s too crowded for myself and my husband to pull in and out of our driveway. It’s not blocking our driveway but there are too many cars and the street is too small. Is there a way the city can communicate with the church and instruct them where to park and not park as to not disrupt the residents.
They are overstaffed. Too many pensions going out with too many people working for San Bruno.
Unsafe driving and parking conditions around Parkside daily. Police don't like to deal with the traffic or parking issues during these times when school let's out so it's pretty much a free for all. Cars parking in many residents driveways waiting to pick up kids and when asked to move they want to get confrontational. Many cars speeding up and down the streets to pick or drop off their kids. City has always seems to take a reactive approach and it's not until a serious accident or issue happens is when the city will so something about it. Also Parkside itself places cones in front of there school from 7am-330pm to keep people from parking. This area is designated for no parking from 130 pm-3pm for bus zone. So why is the school allowed to block off this area of parking each day. Talking to city hall last year and the gentleman in charge of parking and traffic I was told that that Parkside shouldn't be placing cones on Niles. But nothing was done about it. So as a resident should I be placing cones in front of my house also to keep people from parking also? So why is Parkside allowed to do it and why does the city continue to allow this even when this issue was brought up last year with the city and police and school? Take time out of your busy day and maybe observe the issues on Maple, Cedar, Redwood, Niles Ave especially from 2:30-3:15
Would love to see opportunities to volunteer to help local seniors. Love that you’re sending newsletters for our district.
Yes. Stop developing housing. Enough. Start focusing on the betterment of communication of the residents and keeping us informed.
YES....more public online surveys...with more specific questions, yea or nay responses
