Selection Process

The aim of having a policy and procedures is to come out with the best Screening and shortlisting of candidates for Salam Air’s Second Officer Program (Omani or non-Omani Nationals) to ensure the most efficient screening for cadet pilots is based on knowledge and skills in accordance with aviation and in order to comply with the Minimum requirements stated in by the Authority and/or the company. 

With compliance of all the Authority and operator manuals and Flight Crew Recruitment staff who have very solid experience and background will ensure a quality process selection tool that should be sufficient to accept a pilot, with regards to the safety culture of the operator.

All the candidates should pass the stages of the selection process as they are designed to ensure that only the most suitable candidates progress to flight training and to verify the candidate’s flying capabilities and personality traits before starting the training.

Selection process fees: 250 OMR + 5%Vat

Please note that you will only be required to pay the selection process fees when you receive an invoice containing the SalamAir account details. This information will be shared with you on an individual basis, and you are advised to make the payment only if you are shortlisted. We will keep you informed about the status of your application.

Pilot Aptitude Test

Applicants will take part in a pilot aptitude and which assesses candidates’ psychomotor and psychotechnical skills. It consists of several steps, such as, eye-hand coordination, short-term memory, mental arithmetic, spatial orientation and task management skills.

Psychometric Test

The second step of the recruitment process is a psychological assessment. This assessment is designed to measure the candidate’s personality, values, behavior and attitudes. Each of the tests are designed by psychologists to identify specific aspects of the psyche as well as personality or behavioral traits. 

It is based on an CAA regulatory requirement to guarantee a safe flight deck environment.

CRM Group Exercise

The third step of the selection process is a CRM group exercise. This assessment is designed to measure the candidate’s Team work, Leadership, Time Management etc.

ATPL Knowledge Exam

The exam is sent via a link to the candidates on their E-mails which consists of 50 Questions.

One inspector for each 10 candidates should be present.

English Test

Mathematical Test

Simulator Assessment

Evaluators are not looking for perfection. They want to know that you have a solid base of airmanship, that you handle aircraft well, and that you can effectively utilize available resources.

Duration: 30 Minutes

Location: OmanAir Training Centre

Based on the evaluator's assessment on your performance during the simulator, and after successful completion of the remaining Selection Process elements, an additional simulator training may be necessary prior to the Type-Rating Phase.

Interview

This is a chance for us to get to know the candidate and understand his/her motivations for joining the program and later becoming a pilot at Salam Air. Here we would also like to find out whether his/her personality traits match the Salam Air culture and our pilot profile expectations.

Who is not eligible?

A candidate who meets SalamAir requirements will not be invited for the interview if:
