Getting to Edmonton

There are multiple ways to get to Edmonton and our University of Alberta campus whether you're coming from other parts of Alberta, Canada, and around the world.

By Plane

If you're arriving in Edmonton from other parts of Canada or from abroad, purchasing a flight ticket to arrive at the Edmonton International Airport (airport code YEG) might be the best option; prices vary of course but we are a big hub for WestJet and there are other airlines that fly here too (AirCanada, Porter, Alaska Airlines, etc.). Sometimes, you could also fly to Calgary (airport code YYC) and then use a bus (see below) to get to Edmonton. To go from the airport to campus, you can take a taxi, a ride-share service or a public transit shuttle that connects you to the city's light rail.

By Train

There is also passenger rail transport with ViaRail Canada (Check here for ticket options) to arrive in Edmonton's train station, if you're interested in taking the train, please search for and book tickets in advance as rail ticket options are more limited in their times and dates. By Bus

If you're arriving in Edmonton from other Albertan cities or Saskatoon, SK, coming by bus or car might be the best option, please check here for bus options: 

A round-trip bus ticket from Calgary to Edmonton is approximately $60 CAD (Check here)

A round-trip bus ticket from Saskatoon, SK to Edmonton is approximately $160 CAD (Check here)

Please check the "Accommodations and amenities" page for info about local public transit if you're arriving by bus, and for info about university parking if you're arriving by car or will have a car while you are here.

Once in Edmonton

SAL 2026 will be held at the University of Alberta, in Assiniboia Hall. There will be directions and signage to lead you to the conference room on the days of the symposium.
