Policies

Student Behavior Policy

All students, as young Christians, are expected to show respect for everyone, including themselves, teachers, other students, priests, and adults. Inappropriate, rude, or offensive language and behavior are not permitted.

Students are expected to regularly attend and participate in class and Mass.

Students are expected to show respect for parish property, to include the pews, classroom equipment, furniture, playground, and basketball courts.

Students are permitted to only use cellphones in class when necessary for class or during breaks.

Parents will be promptly notified if their child is disruptive and/or disrespectful during class or Mass.

Child Protection Policy

Your child’s safety is our number one priority. All teachers are required to comply with the child protection policy of the Archdiocese of Washington, to include the completion of a three-hour child protection course, FBI and State of Maryland background check, and fingerprinting. All teachers are regularly informed of the importance of keeping our students safe, to include how to handle contact with students in both in-person and online settings.

In our continuing effort to create a safe environment for our students, all students are required to complete the Circle of Grace Safe Environment Training, which will take place in October. This training emphasizes personal dignity received inherently as beings made in the image and likeness of God and awareness of our surroundings suffused with His grace.

Any allegations of improper behavior must be reported to the Sunday School Director, priests, the Archdiocese, or local authorities. Complete information from the Archdiocese of Washington can be found here

Photo/Multimedia Policy

Throughout the school year, photos, videos, and other multimedia content may be captured of your child. This content may be shared for use throughout our parish and the Archdiocese of Washington, to include printed and electronic formats. All captured multimedia will be made available on Google Photos.

Unless otherwise noted when completing your child’s registration, we have received your permission to print, photograph, record, and edit, as desired, the biographical information, full name, image, likeness, photo, voice, and/or video of this student on audio, video, film, slide, or any other electronic and printed formats to be published on the parish and/or Archdiocese of Washington website or advertising material.

COVID-19 Policy

Your child’s safety is our number one priority. We will continue to maintain COVID-19 protocols to ensure that all students and teachers are safe.

Students who exhibit any respiratory symptoms are encouraged to stay home. Students who test positive for COVID-19 must stay home.

If your child tests positive after Sunday School class, Mass, or event, please email SAKSundaySchool@gmail.com so that we can notify families of a potential exposure.

Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes are available for use throughout the church.

For overnight events, proof of COVID-19 vaccination and negative COVID-19 test may be required.
