This project focused on enhancing identity verification for BMO’s Business Online Banking by integrating RSA SecureID as a new method of secure login. The goal was to offer an additional, trusted layer of protection for business customers, aligning with BMO’s commitment to enterprise-grade digital security.
As part of the UX/UI team, I was responsible for designing the end-to-end user experience for this setup process, ensuring that business customers could easily understand and complete the SecureID enrollment and authentication steps.

Design Process
For this project, I led the end-to-end UX design process with a strong focus on cross-functional alignment, developer efficiency, and inclusive user experiences.
I began by working closely with Business Analysts and Product Owners to interpret technical and functional documentation. These insights were used to build comprehensive user flow diagrams in Figma, covering key scenarios such as first-time setup, device change, and error recovery. This helped align expectations across teams early in the process.
Next, I translated the flows into low-to-mid fidelity wireframes with precise annotations, conditional logic, and interaction details. These wireframes were tailored for developers, reducing ambiguity and supporting a clean and efficient handoff.
Recognizing the need to serve both English and French users, I collaborated with language specialists to ensure the UI remained consistent and accessible across both languages. I adapted layouts to accommodate text expansion and cultural nuances, reinforcing the importance of localized, inclusive design.
Throughout the process, I proactively addressed edge cases and security complexities like RSA SecureID flows. My design choices prioritized user clarity and reduced the likelihood of errors or support tickets.
Figma Prototype
Due to a signed NDA with BMO, access to the Figma prototype and design files is restricted. I’d be happy to walk through the work in a live interview upon request. Thank you for your understanding.
User Flows & Scenarios: Collaborated with Business Analysts and Product Owners to translate documentation into detailed user flow scenarios on Figma—including first-time setup, device change, and error recovery—to ensure developers had clear guidance for implementation and effective design handoff.
Developer-Focused Wireframes: I delivered a clean and annotated wireframe package that included precise visual cues, interaction expectations, and conditional behaviours. This resulted in a seamless design handoff and reduced back-and-forth during the development phase.
French Localization: I actively supported the design adaptation for French-speaking users by coordinating with language specialists and updating all interface elements to maintain consistency, alignment, and accessibility in both English and French versions.
Design Handoff is a Critical Step:
Clear annotations and edge-case considerations significantly reduce misinterpretations during development.
Collaboration with Multilingual Teams Matters:
Designing for bilingual markets requires more than translation—it needs cultural and spatial awareness for UI adaptability.
Security Flows Must Be Intuitive:
Even with complex authentication like RSA SecureID, designing clear guidance at each step helps prevent user frustration and support requests.
This project was a turning point in my approach to cross-functional collaboration. By anticipating the needs of both business stakeholders and developers, I delivered a well-documented, robust design system that minimized ambiguity. My attention to multilingual design also strengthened my ability to build inclusive experiences. Looking back, the smooth execution of the design handoff in this project reaffirmed the value of proactive planning and deep empathy for both users and collaborators.
