The 2016 Democratic West Virginia Presidential Primary, a commanding win for VT Senator Bernie Sanders off of the backs of White Working Class ancestral Democrats was fundamentally a rejection of Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration in the Mountaineer State that,
by proccess of elimination, Gave Sanders a strong win & WV candidate Paul Farrell a strong finish—mostly in Coal Country—in a state where Hillary Clinton easilly won over Obama in 2008.
Aiding his staying in the race until the convention, Sanders's win was one which was unable to work to propell him to competitiveness, as by the time the state held its nominating convention, the delegate math had become unsurmountable for Sanders—
something made worse by the unpledged Superdelegate system which generated signifncant controversy and gave Clinton more delegates in the state despite losing it.
Come the General election, due to their voting against Clinton, most of Sanders voters in this state would end up voting for Donald Trump, likewise rejecting Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party's social liberalism and its stance against the use of Coal and increasing the use of Renewable energy sources.
