The 2024 Presidential Straw Poll in Puerto rico, The first time all Puerto Ricans had the option to indicate their preference as to who should be elected U.S. President returned a staggering 46.6% victory for Kamala Harris despite an election that saw a major swing right amongst Latinos throughout the U.S.
Overall, the results partly mirror the 2020 Data for Progress poll that tested Biden vs Trump in Puerto Rico, with some notable exceptions.
Specifically with regards to The Southwest, Eastern Cordillera Cenrtral, Metro San Juan, Caguas and the Southest being More Democratic than what the DFP poll results indicated, and visa versa for the Northwest and northeast.
For the most part, these coalitions are a result of Puerto Rico's rate of Catholicism vs Protestantism as well as the educational attainment rate, with Trump's strongest areas being those more non-college/protestant areas and Kamala's strongest areas being those areas with high college attainment and low evangelical percent.
The Puerto Rico Presidential Straw Poll in San Juan, a spectacular result for Kamala Harris in PR’s Capital city amongst an otherwise dismal night with Latinos, she did 8% better than her 72-26 D win in Puerto Rico as a whole
Her best groups in San Juan were the educated professional class that makes up part of Alianza’s base, with those in Public housing being her second best Group (with those around Gobernador Piñero being her best, followed by Luis Llorens Torres, and then those in Sabana Norte)
And her worst groups being the San Juaneros in the more rural south, and then those who were in the heavilly PPD, and über religious Christian Mita Congregation, winning the later two precincts that dominate said congregation by 11%
