The 2014 U.S. House election in NJ's 9th Congressional District, a comfortable reelection for then 9 term Representative Bill Pascrell over former Chair of the Englewood Dems & Montclair State Professor Dierdre Paul saw him winning all but two of the towns in the 9th, Cresskill and Hasbrouck Heights.
In the campaign, Pascrell focused mostly on attacking Scott Garrett — who was facing a stronger than expected challenge in 2014 — wading back into his own race to defend his support for Police (via the COPS grant) against Paul's attacks over Paterson's crime rate, as well as emphasizing his strong constituent service record
Overall, however, the campaign was uneventful. Compared to the concurrent Senate Race, Pascrell did better than Freshman Senator Cory Booker in most of the seat, posting his best performances compared to the senator in Clifton, Haledon and Hawthorn — comparatively underperforming the Senator in the Jewish Communities in the district, as well as Tenafly and the more upscale areas of the palisades
