The 2007 Mississippi Attorney General Election, a landslide win for one term Democratic incumbent Jim Hood and Retired Major General Al Hopkins resulted in a comfortable, near 20% reelection for the Popular Democratic Attorney General in this deep red southern state
In this race, Al Hopkins sought to win by toughting his experience in State government, his being a member of the Mississippi National Guard, and critizcizing Hood for what the Republican Called "Political Cronyism."
However, Hood won due to his toughting of being a tough arbiter of the law, treatign everyone fairly, whilst also enphasizing his bipartisan and non-partisan Bonafides. In doing so allowing him to win reelection to an office that he would hold until he lost an election to the governorship in 2019.
