The 2024 MN CD-05 Democratic Primary, a 13% win for incumbent Squad member Ilhan Omar over 2022 Challenger Don Samuels in what was otherwise a dour year for the Democratic party's left which ensures that all four original squad members will return to congress for Fourth terms.
Here, in a campaign that was overall a rehash of 2022, Omar expanded on her victory through a heavy advertisement barrage, outspending Samuels by $3Million to $198K wherin she did not let herself get caught sleeping and worked hard to win another term in congress.
However, whilst she Significantly expanded on her win, the spending disparity suggested a stronger win for Omar. As such, this portends potential weakness for a 2026 Primary, where she will again need to be on the lookout on her right flank, as she's still vunrable to a primary challenge.
