In a defeat for progressives, Haley Steven's landslide win over Political Scion of the Levin Family Andy Levin has become a testimate as to the effect of money in politics, especially primaries.
Through a Barrage of Ad spending from outside groups like AIPAC and Emily's List, a clever add reusing Obama's likeness, and the endorsement from Key figures such as Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, Stevens was able to landslide the district, and reduce Levin only to his core bases
Lastly, whilst it's said that Levin would have faired better in the neighboring 10th district, due to the lean of the year both options presented to him would have presented a roadblock or end to his political career, though I believe he's still a contender for statewide office.
