The 2024 FL-09 Congressional Election, a contest between Four Term incumbent Darren Soto—the first Puerto Rican congressman elected in Florida—and Retired U.S. Army Colonel Thomas Chalifoux resulted in a strong win for Soto in this heavilly right shifting Puerto Rican seat.
Despite Chalifoux outspending Soto by $2.5 Million to $1.8 Million—focusing mostly on immigration—Soto's incumbency, heavy funding for Infastructure projects in the seat, and general constituent services brought him a strong double digit victory despite Kamala Haris' meagre 3.5% win in the seat
It was believed that prior to the election that the remarks made by Kill Tony regarding Puerto Rico being an island of "garbage" would significantly help Democrats in the seat, however—as evidenced by Kamala Harris' 3.5% win—it was more Soto's incumbency and personal brand that gave him his 9% overperformance
