The 2022 Alaska At-Large Congressional Election, a rematch from the August Special between Mary Peltola, frm Governor Sarah Palin and Nick Begich saw Peltola significantly increase her Margin over Palin, allowing her to become the first Democrat since 1998 to win reelection in Alaska.
Since winning her August special, Peltola became the most popular Alaskan statewide official—this then combined with the new RCV system and a bitter campaign between Palin and Begich to make it so that Peltola won in the final round comfortably
This was mostly a result of the fact that in the bitter campaign between Begich and Palin they ended up making Peltola more palitable as a second choice to each others voters, as a result allowing her to increase her margin to 9.9% over Palin despite trailing both Republicans combined in the first round.
As a result of this, Peltola is not just the first democrat to win reelection statewide since Tony Knowles, but the First democrat to outpace his margin over the combined republican opposition, winning by 9.9% where Knowles' 1998 margin was 7.5% if you combined all the GOP's votes.
