The 2025 Canadian General Election in Carleton, just under a decade after Longtime MP Pierre Poilievre had his closest reelection in this riding, LPC candidate Bruce Fanjoy upset the now-leader of the opposition Pierre Poilievre by 5.3%
Winning partly thanks to backlash to Poilievre's support for the Convoy, and Fanjoy's relentless working of the seat for 2 years, the election loss proved an embarrassment for Poilievre in an overall embarrassing night where — despite holding newly minted Liberal PM Mark Carney to a minority government — the Conservative Leader had blown a Con+20% lead in the polling to lose the Popular vote for the first time since Steven Harper's conservatives lost it to Justin Trudeau in 2015.
