Arne Anderson Stamnes

BIO

Arne Anderson Stamnes holds a MA degree in archaeology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), a MSc degree in Archaeological Prospection from the University of Bradford in England, and a PhD in archaeology from NTNU. His PhD was an analysis of the application of geophysical methods in Norwegian archaeology, focusing especially on the status, role and potential of such methods in Norwegian archaeological management and research. Arne has also published several articles on the usage of GIS modelling in archaeological research and cultural heritage management. At the moment he is involved in several research projects on the usage of geophysical methods as tools for mapping archaeological features, sites and landscapes, and manages projects where NTNU is asked to collaborate in collecting and interpreting geophysical data from archaeological sites. Arne is also involved with professional collaborations with projects partners in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, USA, Ghana and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to this, Arne supervises MA-students at NTNU, and has had guest lectures at the University of Oslo, University of Tromsø and Copenhagen University. Arne has also presented his work at several national and international conferences.
