Gender-based violence refers to harmful acts directed at an individual, because of their gender. It includes physical, sexual, psychological, and economic abuse and disproportionately affects women, girls, transgender people, and gender non-conforming individuals. This violence is rooted in gender inequality, power imbalances, and discriminatory norms.
Safe Harbour offers safety-focused support to individuals impacted by domestic abuse, honour-based violence, and commercial sexual exploitation, with a focus on those marginalised due to race, culture, gender or sexuality.
In addition to the directly available services provided by Sacro and Safe Harbour, we can provide access to many other support services across Scotland.
We are in direct contact with other organisations and partners and can signpost, refer and advocate on your behalf to enable you to access these specialist services more effectively.
If you are concerned about someone else, or would like advice on how to support them, contact us or have a look at this guidance from Safe Lives.
Safe Harbour offers a range of outreach services, wellbeing and social activities. These can provide support, counselling, respite or just a chance to talk to others in a safe, non-judgemental and social space.
These are held at a number of locations and times, so please check details.
