This critical session focuses on assessing suicide risk among students and managing their safe return to school after a suicide attempt. The workshop provides participants with the necessary skills to identify and evaluate suicidal ideation, along with structured approaches to support at-risk students.

This session introduces the ‘© Child Focused SAFE Interviewing’ method, a new approach designed specifically for school settings. The workshop provides participants with practical tools to conduct child-focused interviews that are Strategic, Accessible, Factual, and Empowering.

Workshop Overview:
This session explores the key component elements of a supportive conversation, and equips staff with the knowledge to manage sensitive conversations with parents, particularly regarding child protection concerns. Participants will learn the techniques to foster constructive dialogue, how to maintain empathy, and tools to build supportive relationships with parents whilst addressing critical issues.
This workshop introduces the work of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and shares findings from their three-year action research on preventing HSB in schools. Participants will gain insights into how to manage HSB using a ‘Six Rs’ model in their own settings: recognising, responding, recording, reporting, risk-assessing and reflecting.
