I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Life Science from Chung-Ang University (CAU) in South Korea and received my Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from Chung-Ang University in 2014 under the supervision of Dr. Kangseok Lee.
Following my Ph.D., I joined Seoul National University (SNU) in South Korea as a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Nam-Chul Ha, where I focused on expanding my expertise in structural biology and protein crystallography of bacterial membrane proteins.
From February 2016 to January 2020, I worked in Dr. Pinkett's lab at Northwestern University, where my primary research interest was studying the molecular basis for the transport of ATP-binding Cassette transporters, which are major agents of multidrug resistance (MDR) in bacteria and humans.
Currently, I work at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) as a senior research scientist. With the assistance of many chemists, my research focuses on bacterial physiology and biochemistry based on biophysics. The goal is to understand the antibiotic resistance mechanisms of multidrug-resistant bacteria and to develop new antibiotics against gram-negative bacteria.
