When is the SA Earth Engine Training?
The training will be held on 25 & 26 June 2019, and will run from roughly 8am to 6pm on each day.
Which costs are covered as part of the training, and what are participants expected to pay on their own?
The training and materials are provided free to participants, as well as most meals. The participants cover the cost of any travel to and during the workshop, such as airfare, hotel accommodations, etc.
What can I expect at the workshop?
The workshop will be a hands-on training for the Earth Engine platform. The workshop also provides a chance for scientists, nonprofits and changemakers to network, discuss common issues and challenges related to Earth Engine, and learn how to train others within their organization and the greater community.

We plan to cover a variety of Earth Engine topics and you can review the session selection on the Agenda page.
Can anyone attend the training? How much does it cost?
This hands-on workshop is limited to fifty participants. Due to limited space, we may not be able to accept every workshop applicant. Attendance is free, following acceptance after sign-up.
In what languages will the training be given?
Regretfully, we can only offer this training in English at this time.

When is my application due?
The deadline for applications is 11 May, 11:59pm South African time (GMT+2)
I have been accepted, but need a letter of support (e.g. to get manager's approval, funding)
We will be able to provide letters of support.
What are the requirements for workshop participants? What qualities or skills will be given preference during the application review?
The training is intended for technologists, GIS specialists, remote sensing specialists and others working on projects using Google Earth Engine. Participants who are using Earth Engine currently, or have a demonstrable use for Earth Engine in the near future, will be given preference.
How many applicants will be accepted?
Fifty participants will be accepted.
Can more than one individual from the same organization apply?
Yes.

What hotel is recommended for out-of-town participants?
We do not have specific recommended lodges or special rates, but have provided general accommodation information on the Location page
Will any meals be provided to participants?
Tea/Coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided to participants on both days, free of change.
