S. T. grew up in Kyoto, Japan.
His parents gave him an elementary microscope when he was 10 years old.
Since then, he has tried to pick up surprises and beauties in the microscopic world which we cannot experience in our daily life.
He learned basic and applied microbiology at Osaka University,
was taught evolutionary biotechnology by Dr. Tetsuya Yomo,
complex systems biology by Dr. Kunihiko Kaneko,
biotechnology in systems biology by Dr. Mark Isalan,
microfabrication by Dr. Hiroaki Suzuki.
