Located in the former Tiro Federal Argentino building in Buenos Aires, this remodeled space is a fascinating "urban farm" that fuses art, design, and living nature. At its core is an ethereal, circular white metal structure where various mushroom species grow in a controlled environment, surrounded by 100 fungi-shaped white concrete benches. The lighting design is seamlessly integrated with the architecture to create a comfortable, glare-free social area for rest and contemplation. Warm 2700K lighting plays a fundamental role, gracefully highlighting the central structure and transforming the space into a beautiful, inviting environment that encourages visitors to pause and linger.

La Place, Galerías Pacífico | Buenos Aires, Argentina 2018

Architect

Ruth Jaitt

Inspired by Paris's Le Bon Marché, La Place is a modern and welcoming meeting point that highlights the historic beauty of Buenos Aires's Galerías Pacífico. Originally designed in 1889 to mirror Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the building is an architectural landmark. La Place honors this European legacy by drawing from the 1945 remodel—which introduced the iconic central dome and its famous murals—seamlessly blending architectural tradition with contemporary design.
