Dayao Satellite College is one of the Capiz State University located in Roxas City, Philippines. In this 10th Batch of Sea Teacher Exchange Program I was placed in Dayao Satellite College, it is an honor for me to join and be given the opportunity to study here. I am very excited and enthusiastic to learn many things here, how the development of education, culture and life here. At the welcome ceremony, Ms. Angel Lilo and I were warmly welcomed by the teacher, faculty staff and students of Dayao Satellite College. Ms. Angel and I shared words of welcome and we had a cultural exchange of traditional Indonesian and Phillippines dances.
The welcome ceremony at the main campus was attended by 21 students from Indonesia, namely from Universitas Nusa Cendana, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Negeri Surabaya , Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta (UMBY), and Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi . At today's welcome ceremony, they met and greeted each other for the first time.
The series of events that we attended were the national anthem, welcoming speeches from the rector and campus officials, traditional dance performances from the Philippines and Indonesia. After that, all of us who were divided into five campuses in Indonesia introduced ourselves and performed various dances from Indonesia, Ahmad Dahlan University performed Maumere, a traditional dance from East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. I hope to learn many things during this activity and find something new that I will do in Indonesia.
Interview with Ma'am Mae Teresa Albaladejo
Filling my free time during class observation, I also interviewed Mrs. Mae Teresa Albaladejo, on this occasion I asked more about the education system, vision, mission at President Manuel Roxas Memorial Integrated School (PMRMIS-SPED). In addition, I also explored further the main or superior programs at SPED.
Time to enjoy coffee on holidays
Today is a holiday in Roxas City, so I was with Ms. Mae Teresa and fellow interns from CapSU Main Campus, Ms. Sheena Marie Baltar and Mr. Chris Lonel Bacli. We exchanged stories about things that happened in school, the differences in learning methods, and the level of education in Indonesia and the Philippines. We also discussed my preparation for the Final Demo in SPED, Ate and Kuya gave me some guidance so that I can do well in the Final Demo.
One of SPED's Leading Programs
At first I didn't realize that SPED had advanced classes, on the second day of observation I realized that they had an advanced program for children with special needs. I was very interested in this program because it was the first time I saw children with special needs placed in the same class as regular students. They were very intelligent, listened to the teacher's explanation well and their classmates were happy to help them.
There are many things that I found during my observation in various classes at President Manuel Roxas Memorial Integrated School SPED. After observing for seven days, I chose class 8 to conduct the Final Demo, the preparation for the Final Demo was quite draining because I had to make the class atmosphere fun and not awkward. I got a lot of input from teachers, fellow interns and buddies. At first I felt a little anxious about the Final Demo because I had to use English fully in class, but I tried to practice and I hope I can do my best for the Final Demo. The day of the Final Demo has arrived, I gave the Lesson Plan that I had made to the supervisors and started the class by greeting "Mabuhay" and asking how they were today, without me realizing it the children in the class were very enthusiastic about attending the class and I was a little relieved when the class ended.
After that the supervisors congratulated to Mrs. Doreen A., Mrs. Jocelyn A. Iturralde Mrs. Mae Teresa Albaladejo, Ms. Christa Hope G.Corros, and my friends for completing the Final Demo, I am very grateful for helping and guiding me during school and preparation for the Final Demo. I learned a lot of things here and this experience is very valuable for me.

Iconic Filipino Foods
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, I, Ms. Corros, Ms. Tiffany and Ms. Angel tried some Filipino specialties at Rico Restaurant. We tried Bulalo and Sisik, the taste was very authentic and suited my palate. No less delicious, we also tried the typical Filipino ice cream, Halo-Halo, which is ice cream and sweet potato, enjoying Halo-Halo and the beach view in the afternoon is a great idea.
Taho Story
Ms. Corros and Ms. Tiffany said that we should try Taho, at first Taho was very familiar but we didn't expect that Taho is Tahu in Indonesia. For the first time I tried it and ice cream, I was very surprised because it tasted very good, I liked it. This is a new idea that I will try in Indonesia.
Street Food at BayBay Beach
The blue sky in Roxas city in the afternoon and the sound of the waves that make anyone who sees it will fall in love. If I was offered to go to BayBay Beach every day I would not refuse. In BayBay Beach we tried Street Food, here they have many variations and buyers can ask for sauces according to order.
Ruins of Alcatraz Roxas City
This place has natural beauty, located on a hill, on the coast and facing the Roxas seafront. Ruins of Alcatraz Roxas City are the remains of a former penal colony built during the Spanish colonial period. However, it has now been converted into a historical tourist attraction in Roxas City.
Enjoy an afternoon on the shores of BayBay and try the butterfish
We tried ordering and riding a trycycle a public transportation in the Philippines, like a becak in Indonesia. Then we also tried ordering our own menu and succeeded. We went to Wayfer cafe to meet with lecturers from Potovendra Campus and lecturers from UMBY Indonesia.
Evening in Capiz Provincial Park
It is rare for us to go out of the apartment at night, this time we visited Capiz Provincial Park in Roxas City. There we tried the most delicious Takoyaki in Roxas City then walked around and took pictures as remember.
Dinner at Angel Pizza
Today is a holiday and Mrs. Joai invited us all to go to SM Mall which is not far from our apartment. First we enjoyed the games and went around, after that we went to Ruins of Alcatraz Roxas City. Then ended the day with dinner together at Angel Pizza, thank you Mrs. Joai for inviting us to go around and have a nice dinner.
The first destination after the opening ceremony we went to DepED Devision of Roxas City and Capiz Devision. There we met with Dr. Bermejo of the Capiz Division and Dr. Ballesteros of the Roxas City Devision. We received a very warm welcome and they hoped that we would be comfortable while in the Philippines and of course be able to learn about education in the Philippines. In addition, they also hoped that we could learn about the culture in the Philippines, especially Roxas City.
Exploring Ilo-Ilo City
After the welcoming day at the Main Campus of Capiz State University, the next day we went to Ilo-Ilo city. There we went to the immigration office, we were welcomed very well by the immigration officers in Ilo-Ilo city. After Ilo-Ilo city we enjoyed lunch at one of the restaurants after that went to the Ilo-Ilo Museum of Contemporary Art, here we learned about local artists and their works, which showcased the fusion of tradition and modernity. The guide at the Ilo-Ilo Museum of Contemporary Art explained some of the existing images such as the meaning of the painting so that we could understand from the perspective of the creator of the painting.
In the second week of vacation, all SEA Teacher participants participated in Cultural activities, the first destination we visited was Capiz Ecology Park and Cultural Village. There we learned traditional things in the Philippines such as traditional houses, traditional dances, traditional clothes, and traditional foods there. I tried to make some traditional foods there, the people there were very friendly and welcomed us happily.
The next destination was Sta. Monica Parish Church in Panay, a National Historical Landmark and home to the largest Catholic bell in Southeast Asia. There, the church guard very specifically rang the largest bell in Southeast Asia, it was very funny when the bell was about to be rung we all spontaneously covered our ears. After that we took a lot of photos because this is one of the histories in Capiz.
Our last destination was the Panublion Museum, here there are stories and history about Capiz and the Philippines. I learned a lot of things, such as traditional clothes that I had seen in the Cultural Village, seeing Philippine leaders from time to time to the Philippine flag in the past.
After completing the Final Demo at school, we prepared ourselves to enjoy the last week in the Philippines. Going to Boracay Island is a very beautiful beach tourist destination, many domestic and foreign tourists come here. For approximately three days and two nights, we enjoyed the very clean and beautiful beach atmosphere, walking around several beaches on Boracay Island. In addition, we also played games together, bought souvenirs and tried the food there. I am very happy to see everyone enjoying all the activities here, this will be one of the unforgettable moments during our stay in the Philippines.

Besides Ms. Angel Lilo I also got to know all the participants of SEA Teacher Batch 10 at CapSu and until now we still greet each other. Thanks to CapSu for bringing us all together and receiving us very well. On the day of returning to Indonesia, the atmosphere of sorrow was very pronounced, almost half of the SEA Teacher Batch 10 CapSu participants were present to accompany me and my UAD friends. After that I realized that the friendship we had was very meaningful and memorable.
And thanks to my ate Ms. Devine Apple Doloso and Ms. Kate Amomoy for everything, like destiny we have the same connection and humor.
