Wilson Rativa-Parada

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Engineering Science program at Southern Illinois University. My doctoral work focuses on the study of mechanical and structural interactions between matrix and reinforcement in nanocarbon aluminum matrix composites. I received a Master of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia. My research interests include the mechanical behavior of materials, advanced materials processing, and microstructural development of alloys and metal matrix composites.

M.S. Students

Md Mosharrof Hossain

I received my B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). My undergraduate research concentrated on Computational Heat Transfer. I have joined Dr. Nilufar’s group in the Fall of 2022. Currently, I’m engaged in research in the field of additive manufacturing, specifically focusing on triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures. In my free time, I enjoy photography, reading books, and playing chess.

Md Sakhawat Hossain

My undergraduate research work and the healthcare industry work experience in that case mostly motivated me to go for its further advancement. My research work in MID Lab mainly focuses on the mechanical behavior of additively manufactured composite materials emphasizing polymer matrix composites. Also, the collaboration with the Mechanogenomics lab provided me the chance to engage in the creation of biomaterials using additive manufacturing techniques. Apart from my research work and study, I love to play cricket, hiking, and music. Also, I am extremely crazy about hangout.

Undergraduate Students

Ana Tanda Ocampo

I am a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student. I joined Dr. Nilufar's group in Fall 2023 and I have been learning a lot about Additive Manufacturing. I am currently researching and working on a project focused on synthetic foams, and I look forward to obtaining my master's degree in mechanical engineering at SIU while continuing to work in her lab. Outside of school, I am a swimmer, I enjoy music, dancing and singing, and hanging out with my friends.
