I had a lot of fun filming this video, as it was something I've never done before. I'd love to do more in the future since now I have an idea of how to do a food review. Planning beforehand is the most important thing. It is important to know what and how to say your opinion concisely, but learn to also be authentic in your response. Hopefully, in the future, I can take the lessons I learn and apply them to another food review video.
Writing this caption and executing the interview left me with valuable lessons. I learned that interviews should be conversations that you reflect on even later down the road, I also learned what an editorial is.
Despite being a novice when it comes to journalism, I always try to take away from every interaction.

Filming this video was not as intimidating as I expected it to be. Working alongside my PR/SM staffers helped in the process of filming and editing the video. I used my phone camera and my mediocre knowledge of CapCut to edit the pieces together. The video-making process gave me a lot of imaginative freedom when it came to finding inspiration and curating the flow of the video. I enjoyed making this promo video and I await to create more videos and reels for The Muse.

I noticed when conducting the interview for this caption that my favorite question to ask is, “What advice would you give?” I realize when given a broad question, people narrow it down subconsciously. A question that lets the interviewee ramble on and speak their mind gives the interviewer more opportunities to build upon the information that’s given. It helps create a bond throughout the interview, a basis of comfort. Instead of it being Person A to Person B, it’s a conversation to understand that person specifically, their ideals, motivations, and adversities.

This graphic had multiple steps to it. I first had to create the playlists for every genre, then make a template and put in the Spotify barcode for each playlist. It was a lengthy process but I learned some new songs and it broadened my music taste.
This graphic may not be the most journalistic thing to have done, but it bonded the publication with the student body through an art form we all love; music.

Filming this reel was a blast! I had so much fun coming up with the idea and researching good social promos and being in one too!
Having a partner (Rotcelyn Caceres) made the work less intimidating and we got everything done in the span of a few short days.
I would gladly do another reel like this.

Interviewing teachers and staff is always harder than interviewing students. There is always a level of respectability that is present and it becomes difficult to ask certain questions. You think to yourself, "Will they be offended?" or "Will this affect their perspective of me as a student?". It makes it hard to get a genuine interview.
However, I try to overcome that and make them feel comfortable. I am no longer a student when interviewing, but a journalist.

I learned many lessons the day of this interview. How to conduct one that gives you the best information, the most truthful and authentic information for a story or caption.
Being a Visual major and interviewing another visual, it gave me more of a reason to give my all to this interview. I learned that having passion creates the best stories.
This caption was originally a brief to be uploaded on The Muse website. However, it got scrapped and was turned into a social promo. Either way, this post fulfilled my every expectation for myself as a journalist and artist.
