Personal Narrative:
Writing has always intimidated me. I have always been better at communicating through my canvas. Joining The Muse was an impulsive decision brought about by the fear that my love for art would not be enough for me to sustain a career in the future.
For years, I have been polishing my skills when it comes to different art mediums: acrylic, oils, charcoal, and graphite. In every piece I make, I pour my feelings, my passion, my emotions into a withered-down brush, only to realize the alarming chance that my brush would break and that my fondness of art would dissipate and turn into a hobby later down the line. Like getting tackled on the field, reality hit me, that I needed to hone my other skills. When I heard of The Muse at Dreyfoos, I signed up to try something new. I joined The Muse as a PR/SM staffer, although my position doesn't have me write as much or as often as others on the publication I still have learned a great ordeal from this experience. Creating posts, infographics, weekly schedules, reminders, taking pictures, making videos, and conducting interviews, have all been learning milestones, and goals that have been accomplished unknowingly. As I continue being on the publication, I continue to create more goals for myself, whether that’s increasing the number of posts I make in a month, or finally taking another step to curate and compile a story for The Muse. I’m glad for taking the opportunity provided and the new experiences that come along with it.
