The Sabercat Vanguard is one of the premier performing ensembles at Saguaro High School.
This distinguished group performs at all Varsity Football games, both home and away, and competes in ABODA Marching Band Festivals. Additionally, the band participates in parades throughout the year and is featured at various public events, including corporate luncheons and business openings.
Within the school, the band plays a vital role in events such as Freshman Night and Pep Rallies. Remarkably, Marching Band students perform more during their first two months than in all their previous years leading up to high school.
The concert bands are the foundation of the Saguaro Band Program. The skills cultivated in Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble are essential not only for musical success but also for broader personal development. Our philosophy, "Teaching Success in a Culture of Excellence," is evident in every concert band class.
Participation in Wind Ensemble requires enrollment in marching band, while Symphonic Band students may choose whether to join.
The concert bands perform multiple times annually.
After the marching band season concludes, our Zero Hour transitions to focus on Jazz Band. The Saguaro Sabercat Jazz Band is composed of two ensembles: Jazz Gold and Jazz Black. These groups feature traditional jazz instruments, providing students with the opportunity to delve into various jazz styles and develop their improvisational skills.
Each year, the Jazz Band showcases its talents at the Spring and Final Concerts, as well as at the highly anticipated "Jazz and Chocolate" event. This annual fundraiser not only generates essential support for the Saguaro Band program but also offers Jazz Band students the unique experience of performing in a club-like atmosphere. Held at Saguaro High School, "Jazz and Chocolate" consistently draws a large and enthusiastic audience.
