For 2025, the Sabal OCR will feature one competitive division: the Elite Category.
We’re excited to welcome athletes ready to take their OCR journey to the next level. Please take note of the following key rules and requirements:
Punctuality is mandatory. You must start at your assigned heat (wave time). Late arrivals or racing in another heat will result in disqualification (DQ).
Identification. Elite racers will be issued a red headband with bib number, which must be worn at all times with the number visible on the front.
No outside assistance. Aid in the form of food, drinks, or medical support (outside of official medical clearance) is not permitted. Receiving outside help will result in DQ — though you may still complete the course, and receive your finisher medal, and shirt (if medically cleared).
Obstacle accountability. Competitors may be filmed for review. Failure to complete an obstacle requires a 30-burpee penalty (Elite Category). Burpees must be self-counted — course marshals will not track them for you.
Timing disputes. Any podium or timing concerns must be raised within 15 minutes before the award ceremony.
Rulebook compliance. It is each racer’s responsibility to read, understand, and comply with the official Sabal OCR Rulebook, which may be updated throughout the year.
⚠️ Important: Disqualification means you will not receive an official finish time and will not be transferred to the Open Category.
🚫 No shortcuts here! True warriors don’t skip obstacles — we conquer them! 💪
We strongly discourage skipping without at least giving each obstacle your best attempt. After all, the obstacles are the very heart of an obstacle course race.
That said, if you try and still cannot complete an obstacle, you’ll need to perform a mandatory set of 15 burpees (OPEN Category) before moving on. This applies to every obstacle on the course.
⚠️ Remember: skipping adds up to a lot of burpees — so dig deep, push through, and aim to finish every obstacle!
There is NO time limit for this event [5KM | 15 Obstacles]. Sign up. Show up. Don't give up!
Take your time and finish, however long it takes you. Oo-ha!
Specific, longer distance events may have time cutoffs for safety concerns. If this is the case, those cutoff times will be published in the Athlete Guide on the specific event page, well before the event.
While you can wear almost anything we have a few suggestions:
Try to avoid cotton whenever possible.
Trailing running shoes and lightweight apparel that drains well; remember, it's likely you will be soaking wet and/or muddy.
New shoes on race day are NOT recommended, race in what you train in.
Remember this is a family event, indecent clothing should be reconsidered.
The Bag Drop service is free of charge, and each racer may check in one bag only. All belongings must fit within a single bag, as extra bags will not be accepted.
Each racer will receive a bag tag at the Bag Drop tent and must wear the matching tag on their wrist for the entire event to ensure proper identification and collection.
We provide water and aid stations along every course. For shorter distances, such as a 5KM OCR, there may only be one station located at the halfway point. For longer events like the 10KM OCR or the 21KM OCR, you can expect up to four stations throughout the course.
Please note that food and energy gels are not supplied on the course, so participants should plan ahead and bring their own. We also recommend carrying a camelbak or water bottle to stay hydrated and meet your personal needs along the way.
After the race, head over to the Festival Area, where you’ll find a variety of food vendors offering delicious hot meals — don’t forget to bring cash!
👉 Our rule of thumb: If you think you’ll need it, bring it.
