• Sebastian presented his undergraduate research project, Integrating Modularization and Generative Design for Holistic Design Optimization, at both the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Undergraduate Research Experience Purdue-Colombia (UREP-C) Symposium at Purdue.

June 28 ~ July 2, 2024

• Dr. Chang visited Nanyang Technological University (Dr. Justin Yeoh’s group) to give a talk on smart and integrated communities.

• Dr. Chang (S2-HUB) and Dr. Oh (S2-WIDE) visited LeapThought and SoilBuild to explore advancements in modularization and prefabricated construction.

June 10 ~ 13, 2024

• Dr. Chang, Dr. Oh (S2-WIDE), and Hayoung were invited to organize a joint workshop at the University of Tokyo (hosted by Dr. Takahiro Yoshida) and Keio University (hosted by Dr. Yoshiki Yamagata) to discuss future urban systems.

June 7 ~ 8 & June 21, 2024

• Dr. Chang co-organized a joint workshop between Purdue University, Seoul National University (SNU), and Keio University, hosted by Dr. Jun-Suk Kang in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Rural Systems Engineering at Seoul National University, South Korea. 

• Dr. Chang and Dr. Oh (S2-WIDE) were invited to give a talk at the City Energy Lab, led by Dr. Steven Jige Quan, at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Seoul National University.

March 20 ~ 23, 2024

• Dr. Chang presented three research works at the 2024 ASCE CI&CRC conference, Des Moines, IA. 

"Systematic Review of Social Equity for Installing Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations", “Pattern Analysis of LEED v4 Rating System", and “Review of Metaverse Technologies to Broaden Accessibility in Civil and Construction Engineering Education"

• Dr. Chang has also served as a Moderator for "Infrastructure Systems and Engineering and Materials Design" sessions.

• Hayoung attended her first ASCE conference!

• Dr. Chang was invited to Keio University, Japan, and the University of Hong Kong, China for sharing S2-Hub Lab's research work and pondering ideas for future decarbonized civil systems with international scholars.

Dr. Chang received Young Faculty of the Year Award from KSCEE (Korean American Society of Civil and Environmental Engineers), Aug 2023.

Dr. Chang received 2023 Junior Faculty Award from KACEPMA (Korean-American Construction Engineering and Project Management Association), June 2023.

June 25 ~ 28, 2023

• Jae presented his research on "Deep Reinforcement Learning for Optimal Planning of Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at a Large Scale" in the 2023 ASCE International Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering (i3CE 2023), Corvallis, OR. 

• Jae also presented co-authored paper "Information Visualization Platform for Underground Pipeline Maintenance Integrating BIM and GIS Data" in the conference.

• Mina presented her research on "Cost Estimation for Water Loss Restoration Using Building Information Modeling, Infrared Thermography, and Xactimate" in the 2023 ASCE International Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering (i3CE 2023), Corvallis, OR.
