Dr. Soowon Chang is an Assistant Professor in the School of Construction Management Technology and the Director of the Smart and Sustainable Human-Urban-Building (S2-HUB) Interaction Lab at Purdue University.
Dr. Kim's research interest lie at the intersection of smart and sustainable cities, with a strong emphasis on safety and social well-being. Throughout her academic career, she have focused on addressing complex safety challenges in urban environments and construction sites, particularly by developing and implementing innovative technologies that enhance safety and health outcomes for both the public and workers.
Jae's research revolves around understanding the high dimensional spatial data processing related to solar energy forecasting using machine learning and geographic information systems. In addition, he also investigates to develop the automatic BIM model of road using geometric neural network.
Hayoung is investigating research topics related to community energy modeling and the application of generative AI to support the creation of sustainable and future-ready built environments. Her work explores how data-driven modeling can inform localized energy strategies, improve system efficiency, and support reliable energy transitions at the community scale. In addition, she is examining how generative AI techniques can be leveraged to simulate, visualize, and optimize infrastructure systems, with the goal of enabling more adaptive and resilient urban development.
Dahyun's research interests center on visual and image processing, artificial intelligence, and the transition to smart infrastructure systems. She is particularly interested in developing AI-driven techniques for interpreting complex visual data and applying these methods to enhance the functionality, safety, and efficiency of modern infrastructure. Her work bridges the gap between emerging digital technologies and traditional infrastructure systems to support data-informed decision-making in areas such as urban planning, transportation, and construction.

Nikhil's research interests focus on development of high-performance machine learning models for multi-modal image analysis, domain adaptation, active learning and unsupervised learning with applications in geospatial AI, remote sensing, climate change and disaster response.

Mina studied the application of technology to reduce the time and cost of water damage restoration projects after disasters. To recover and restore buildings with water damage, a systematic restoration strategy with an automatic moisture mapping process is proposed using a thermal 3D laser scanner, BIM-GIS, and IoT. Annique's research focuses on digital twin construction project and program management. She is currently working on detection of hazard precursors to implement proactive safety management on construction sites. In the future, with the combination of BIM and GIS, she will further explore digital-twining human and environment responsive and interactive construction workplaces.
