Smart and Sustainable Human Urban Building Systems
The Smart and Sustainable Human Urban Building Systems (S2-HUB) Lab advances the scientific understanding of adaptive built environment systems. We investigate how construction, infrastructure, buildings, and human systems interact and co-evolve across spatial and temporal scales. By integrating computational modeling, simulation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven approaches, we generate new knowledge that supports safer, more sustainable, resilient, and human-centered built environments.
Our vision is a future in which the built environment is understood as an adaptive socio-technical system rather than a collection of isolated components. We aspire to establish the scientific foundations that explain how human decisions shape the evolution of buildings, infrastructure, and communities over time. Through interdisciplinary research, education, and collaboration, we aim to prepare the next generation of scholars and professionals to create built environments that enhance the well-being of people, strengthen communities, and contribute to a more sustainable society.
