琉球列島には、シマそれぞれのことばがあります。これらのことばは、方言とよばれたり、言語とよばれたりしますが、それぞれのシマの名前もあります。

このプロジェクトは、シマそれぞれのことばの学びの機会を地域のみなさまに提供しようと、沖縄県内の大学の研究者、そして、琉球出身のアーティスト・舞台家・写真家が共同で取り組むプロジェクトです。

Hello, everyone. In different communities ("shima") in the Ryukyus, there are speech varieties. People in each "shima" call these linguistics varieties in their own ways, but they are sometimes called "dialects" or "languages." We are a group of researchers and artists (photographers, musicians, and actors from the Ryukyus) started this project with a purpose of providing chances for local communities to learn these "languages."
